All Wishes, Granted IRL. An intersection forging dialogue, music, aroma, and meditation with people from every walk of life. Where the synapses of engineers are soundtracked by a poet of Jamaica Queens, curator curiosity remained intact to jazz, and a soloist serenade captured our attention whenever we wanted more. Special Thanks to @zeencandleco keeping our minds clear, @refraction_irl keeping us connected by touchpoint, and @ohboy.lab for being our art resource for prints. - SDR 2026

⚪️ Ancient://technology gallery closing ⚪️ Last week was a movie. Our month-long pop up @my.pet.ram came to a close, and we celebrated big. We kicked the night off with many-a-can of Lunar graciously donated by our friends at @drinklunar . @rahelyea gave us a captivating debut reading of Binary Runes, her poem that captured the spirit of the whole exhibition. The 100+ friends who came through over the night got to see works from @lanceweiler @rfflowerr @sally.jh.kong @cooked.overeasy @maachewbentley @fullstack_human @chanwild @_______kirsten @ilangitter one last time. The show sought to explore how the past creates branches into the present, and how we might imagine which paths we can pave into the future, inspired by the ancient wisdom that precedes us. We did this with a nondisciplinary approach. Every artist in the show weaved their many talents and sources of knowledge into the pieces on the walls. The mix of guests who attended similarly reflected our belief that expression does not need to be categorized in order to be understood. This was the beginning of our ancient://technology season at @5x5_collective . We will continue to break disciplinary silos and bring together an eclectic mix of artists and builders in our next concepts. Stay tuned here for updates, or subscribe to our email list / substack - links in bio. Video: @mateito_teo Design: @takaomakesthings Web: @jnwng Curation: @fullstack_human

Artist Profile: Nikhil Kumar Nikhil Kumar (@fullstack_human ) is a nondisciplinary artist often exploring sound, biological forms, and metaphysics. He’s fascinated by non-human scale and uses his art to explore subjects from unconventional perspectives, often synesthetically mixing media forms, art, and science. His career has spanned teaching, cooking, and building startups across a variety of industries. He is the co-founder of @5x5_collective Collective, an artist in residence at @blackbrickproject , and likes learning how to make the things he consumes. On Made By Humans: This sculpture began as a phrase, “Made by humans,” as the first line in a three part poem imagining a a memory passed to humans 500 years in the future. Using custom-built software, I translated that text into DNA encoding, then used AI tools to predict its resulting protein structure. Finally, I worked with @diego_anaya of Black Brick Project and @en.zo_metal to sculpt metal by hand into that protein form. Steel has been a medium for transferring human knowledge for millennia. DNA, perhaps the oldest technology to convey complex information in simple code, may give us the best chance of communicating with the future while being understood. In the distant future, when humanity itself may be a memory, this piece functions as a time capsule written in the language of life

ARTIST TALKS #4: Kirsten Batten Leach and Nikhil Kumar Join us for artist talks from Kirsten Batten Leach and Nikhil Kumar. Each artist will discuss their works, their ongoing practices, and the vision ahead for 5x5 Collective. This will be the final set of artist talks at our pop-up gallery 😀😭 Kirsten Batten Leach (@_______kirsten ) is an interdisciplinary artist who makes ephemeral sculptures, video and 2D works about care-taking and bodily autonomy. Her background as a ballet dancer and domestic worker informs the physical rigor of her object-making practice. Often drawing from these two polarized forms of labor, she critiques the effects of social stratification in the United States. In particular, examining power imbalances that occur as she navigates in a femme-presenting body and the subsequent impulses to conceal, collapse in on or control herself. Nikhil Kumar (@fullstack_human ) is a nondisciplinary artist often exploring sound, biological forms, and metaphysics. He’s fascinated by non-human scale and uses his art to explore subjects from unconventional perspectives, often synesthetically mixing media forms and scale, art and science.
