This Friday at @jaegeroslo we celebrate the new album from Karolinski 🎉 She returns to Oslo to perform it live, and we’re so happy to have her back. Her album was just named Album of the Week at @junodownload , who praised its unique mix of dubby minimal techno, Balearic moods, jazz touches, drum & bass energy and even hints of trance. A true journey in sound ✨

Album of the Week: Norway's Karoline Hegrenes (@karolinskimusic ) is a hard artist to pigeonhole - she describes her music as "dubby, minimalist techno" but this album is sitting in our Balearic/Downtempo section and has "jazz" in the title, while there are also obvious influences from drum & bass (in the beats department) and even trance. It's an album that's best filed under "go figure", then - but also one that recalls similarly diverse offerings from other electronic auteurs of days gone by (Donna Dee and Rustie spring to mind), which like 'Jazz 6' could have been subtitled 'One man/woman and his/her genre-agnostic studio noodlings'. If that sounds dismissive, it's not meant to, because there's much to enjoy here - from the frenetic, Liquid-biting post-hardcore chaos of 'Really... It's One Family' to the lilting prog of 'Tomta Mi, Ikkje Di'. FPX042DIGI is out today! @karolinskimusic After three years in the making, Karolinski presents her first fully sample-based album — a raw, textured blend of 90s UK drum & bass, hip hop, and subtle touches of trance. The result is a deep, personal journey through rhythm and memory, built from fragments of sound that echo her musical roots. The creative process began in early 2022, shortly after Karolinski moved back to Bergen. Working entirely solo, she crafted each track without outside collaboration — a conscious choice that allowed full focus and introspection. Originally planned for release earlier, the project was put on hold during the pandemic. “I learned that releasing an album while time stood still didn’t make much sense,” Karolinski says. “Now, there’s movement again — the world feels more alive — and with that comes new energy and possibility.” This album marks a new chapter: introspective yet rhythm-driven, nostalgic yet forward-facing. It’s a sonic statement shaped by time, place, and solitude — and one that invites listeners into Karolinski’s evolving soundscape.

Oslo trio Cocktail Sports (@boblebad1 , @sommerfeldtmusic and @frombeyonduk ) have quickly become one of @full.pupp 's most reliable and productive artists. 'Mar Acid' is the all-star collective's third release, following the excellent 'Crop It' (2022) and 'The Golden Course' (2024). 'Mar It' is prime Norwegian space disco with an acid twist - all winding TB-303 lines, elongated and alien-sounding chords, tumbling melodic motifs and sturdy drums. As usual, label chief @prinsthomas handles remix duties. He first delivers a pleasingly intense, jacking and mind-mangling 'Just Acid' rework - sweaty drum-fills and nasty TB-303 tweaks aplenty - before re-casting it as a strobe-lit acid-meets-space-trance chugger (the 'trancier edit'). ⭐⭐ Rate this release in the comments! ⭐⭐ . #junodownload #electronicmusic #musicdownload #undergroundmusic #musicproducer

Opener ‘Pip-Pip Trance’ is almost self-explanatory, a bleepy, propulsive affair that reminds yours truly of 90s Sundays slumped in front of ‘X-Mix’ videos (trippy visuals for rave-fried brains), while ‘Tomta Mi, Ikkie Di’ comes on like a Balearic Yellow Magic Orchestra. So far, so pleasant - but then there’s the Double Trouble Remix, which reworks the latter into something altogether sultrier, groovier and really rather irresistible, made up mostly of crisp but understated beats, warm bass, ethereal vox and shimmering FX.”
