‘Best of all possible’ nights OPENING Candide at the Opera House! Surreal. Playing til March 14! @sydneyoperahouse Have loved seeing it come together from building it in the studio last year, to shining on the Joan Sutherland stage now. Honoured to recreate our work with the almighty Director: @deanjbryant , Set and Costume designer extraordinaire @dannwilliambarber and Lighting wiz Matt Scott. 🎈💃Forced bday improv tradition: #6 I definitely struggle to keep habits and routines up (apart from daily coffee), so having this annual frolic is something I am determined to keep and tick off the to do list (bring on that dopamine hit please!). So, cheers for being part of the tradition, even though I forced you into it. This years song is ‘That’s All’ by @sammyraemusic because tonight (the night before the big dance), all I felt like doing was thrashing around…. (My apologies Free Astaire). This tradition is silly, but alas I’m hooked, so each birthday I will commit to playing a song that has resonated with me that year, and then reflect/improvise/ frolic (whatever buzz word you prefer) in a bid to reflect on the past year. I’m sure we can all agree, it has been ‘one of those years’, and so, some testing the strength of the ottoman in a new area at home was apparently, exactly what was needed (along with whatever other vice floats your boat).

Oh my! ♥️THANK YOU so much to the GreenRoom Awards for this recognition! As I said last night (as I waded through some version of a speech), I love getting to celebrate the Arts and the sheer will and resilience that it takes for artists to get their work made. Last night I got to celebrate the wonderful shows I was part of last year: CANDIDE, The Grinning Man and Elegie’s: A Song Cycle…. So to have been Nominated for CANDIDE in the Opera Direction category and The Grinning Man for Independent Choreography (and WINNING eeeeek) was absolute icing on the cake! 〰️ Finding the movement voice of The Grinning Man was definitely a collaboration with Dir. @mirandajanemiddleton , my dance captain @cambh1 and the whole cast that inspired me and cracked open my idea of what it means to be accessible and how it can be integrated through staging. Big CONGRATS to the Ensemble and @s.t.i.r.14 for their wins, and the whole team of people on this show thanks to Salty Theatre and Vass Productions! 〰️ Proud and thrilled that our wild CANDIDE was awarded best PRODUCTION (Oh ….and Design @dannwilliambarber & Matt Scott AND Performance @_katherineallen_ AND Musical Achievement @maestrobenny AND Direction @deanjbryant )! It is the show that keeps on giving, and I am so appreciate of Dean, @victorianopera and Stuart Maunder for this gift.
 The world is a wild place right now, so a long night of wine and celebrating some of the wonderful work getting made was exactly what was needed.

Curtain down on the Candide chapter once again! Being able to bring this show to The Opera House with Opera Australia has meant some pretty extraordinary milestones and moments. It was a gift to work on this Bernstein material again with both original and new cast members (oh, the talent). Plus, we got to work with the powerhouse Opera Australia chorus and orchestra lead by the wonderful Brett Weymark. The world created by the design is something to be marvelled at (still noticing detail): Costume and Set genius Dann Barber, and lighting wiz Matt Scott. Dean Bryant Directed this ship (/caravan) with class and wit, and it was an absolute treat to be able to choreograph the show alongside him. It always takes a village… plus some more! CARRIE The Musical @ WAAPA Diving deep into horrifying world of Stephen King’s ‘Carrie’ as a musical was everything and more thanks to the talented WAAPA cohort and all the designers and crew involved. They gave it everything and more! Can’t wait to follow all their paths. ELEGIES Song Cycle, is a collection of some of the most beautiful stories/ songs goin’ round town. There was no else I’d rather be this past week than in a room working alongside Director Tyran Parke, and listening to THIS CAST sing this music with Vicky Jacobs. ♥️ I can’t wait for the cast (this awe inspiring, talented and lovely cast), Tyran (leader of the pack) and the whole company to share this piece.
