Getting to the trails shouldn’t feel impossible and our goal is to make sure it doesn’t.
We’ve partnered with @freestoneendurance to launch the Freestone Trail Scholarship for Black, Indigenous, and athletes of Color in Colorado.
Each scholarship covers a free race entry to the West Line Winder 30K or 50K, Sawatch 50K or Sawatch 50/50 plus a stipend to help you chase your goals, your way. Whether you’re a seasoned trail runner or lacing up for your first race, this opportunity is for you.

Last weekend, we took to the mountains of Colorado for the inaugural Camp We Run Long. Our mission was simple yet profound: to create a space where 25 BIPOC trail runners could feel truly empowered and embraced.
What unfolded was beyond our wildest dreams. The weekend was a tapestry of shared life stories, heartfelt connections, and the invigorating challenge of the @westlinewinder . It was a powerful reminder of the strength that comes from community, from vulnerability, and from celebrating one another. Together, we didn’t just run—we forged bonds that will last a lifetime.

Let’s break the barriers to trail running.
We’ve teamed up with @freestoneendurance to bring back the Freestone Trail Scholarship for Black, Indigenous, and athletes of Color. Each scholarship covers a race entry and provides a stipend, coaching support, access to a community Discord, and @altrarunning gear. Whether you’re a seasoned trail runner or lacing up for your first race, this opportunity is for you.
Applications will be open January 19-February 1. Scholarship recipients will be announced on February 6.

In partnership with @altrarunning , we’re back for year two of the Freestone Trail Scholarship—a trail running program designed to lift up runners from the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color communities and break down the barriers that make big goals feel out of reach.
This year, the scholarship is bigger and better than ever. We have 15 spots in the 30K & 50K races for Colorado-based athletes, plus two spots for U.S.-based athletes in the 2026 High Lonesome 100.
We’ve also leveled up the program: not only are we covering race fees and providing a stipend for whatever you need to reach the start line, but we’re also offering coaching support, a free pair of Altra shoes, access to a community Discord, and lodging options for the September 30K/50K race weekend.
Applications open January 19–February 1.

With 2025 coming to an end and this project coming to fruition, would you say that’s divine timing or serendipitous alignment? I’m not sure, but if you have a moment to spare, take a seat and let me share a piece of my journey that means so much to me.
It goes without saying, but it takes a village to allow for these races to take place. The hours of training that go into the preparation, the patience of loved ones supporting throughout, and the logistics that happen behind the scenes from race directors.
This video is for them – my family & friends, especially @connorbuckk and @overgiver.co , who so selflessly captured this trek, to my BIPOC community, especially @endurancerunclub , who opened the door for this opportunity to race West Line Winder, and @freestoneendurance / @altrarunning for breaking down barriers that can make chasing big goals feel out of reach.
Cheers to this chapter- Catharsis, Community, and Connection
With love,
Marisol
🍁Photo Dump: Year 4 of Team @werunlong etched into my memory. Each year, I come back in such awe of the magic of this team & get flooded with so many emotions. Did we pull off what felt like another “best year ever”? There are no words to describe the way this space (especially at West Line Winder 50k/30k) was filled by these team members over our 4 days together in Buena Vista, CO this September. Their stories, their unique experiences, their identities, their passion, their grit, their “why?”, their love, their pain, their joy. What I got to witness brought me to tears countless times and left me feeling so inspired.
The hard work that goes into planning this camp (and the even harder responsibility of selecting the team members) are all worth it when you see how beautifully this team came together. BIPOC & LGBTQIA+ representation matters. Runners of all ages & abilities make the sport richer. Diversity is not just a buzz word; it’s core to what we are. Community is a concept that also gets thrown around a lot, but that takes intention, action, & genuine collective care: something we pride ourselves on. Thank you to our partners for supporting our mission of diversifying the start lines and amplifying inclusion in trail running. We couldn’t do this without @altrarunning@fleetfeet and @freestoneendurance . To the 15 incredible 2025 team members who showed up as their authentic selves with such open hearts, thank you. You absolutely lit up the weekend and embodied everything that is We Run Long. And much love to the alums who came back for a reunion & to embrace the new members with so much support & show them what this extended family is truly all about.
To my fellow core team leaders: Rebecca, Kelsey, and Alissa….I am always beyond grateful for how we pour our hearts into this while working full-time jobs and caring for our families and dealing with all that life throws at us. It is such an honor to work with you and call y’all my dear friends.
I hope the little ripples we’ve created in diversifying this sport continues far & wide & forever.

Here they are.
High Lonesome 100 hits hard. Day One we tackle the physical logistics of working in the high country. Day Two we are simply floored by the emotions and energy of the finish line. Then we drive home, edit, and relive it over and over again on our computer screens. You shared your journey with us. And now we get to share it with all of you - and that’s everything.
Thank you to @alpine_runner and @kelsbana for having us back and ensuring all of these images can be downloaded, free for personal use. You will find all of the images by Rick Mayo, Kristi Mayo, and Jordan Chapell at the link in our bio, or go straight to mile90.com. When you post them, please tag us and @jchapell so we know which ones you love. Go get ‘em!

Talk about being on the cutting edge of trail work... ha!
But seriously, we don’t just ask our runners to give back to the trails—we get our hands dirty too. This year, several Freestoners became certified sawyers so we could get out there and help clear the trails ourselves. RD Caleb was already certified, but as it turns out, clearing 100 miles of trail is a whole lot easier when you’re not doing it solo.
A huge thank-you to Altra for their generous donation, which made it possible for us to equip our team with the gear needed to get the job done right.
