Funny story - we started it at Atlantic Records’ studio on the top of a building off Hollywood Boulevard, and after the session I was halfway down in the lift with @soundofdakota and @micahggg when it stopped and a woman got in. She was very friendly and asked what we were up to. We said we’d been working on some music with a few producers and she joked that in her day it only took one person to write a song. When we got to the ground floor she said goodbye and I turned around to see @soundofdakota ’s jaw wide open. “Do you know who that was?” she asked. I had no idea. “Diane fucking Warren!” I turned back and looked up at the name of the building we’d just spent the day in: Realsongs - Diane Warren Music Company…

What a joy, producing @thecharlatans ’ new album ‘We Are Love’ with one of my oldest friends @devhynes (every song bar You Can’t Push the River, prod by Stephen Street). From the surreal first meeting with my teenage icon @didx1904 (in which we discussed many big ideas including @timburgessofficial ’s hair colour) to long, psychedelic days at @balticstudios , helmed by the best @evielikesmusic , and @rockfieldstudios with Thighpaulsandra, who we asked everything there is to know about Coil. A legendary band making their fourteenth record is no mean feat, and we wanted it to feel like both a sequel and a reboot, honouring Charlatans past, present and future, which listening again today, I believe it might.
Been listening to Al Cam since Jumping the Shark, so I’m honoured to have co-written Short King, out today. As someone of distinctly average height I hope I provided some neutrality in the studio as Goliath finally faced down his David.
So proud of @jessicawinter666 releasing her aptly titled first album today. We started working together five years ago and she’s been a go-to collaborator on so many projects since. Very happy to have co-written ‘Worst Person in the World’ for this one x
