Up until now we have neglected to mention that this year we are celebrating 65 years of recording at Rockfield Studios.
Needless to say we have been going down memory lane and this prompted a trip up to the top of the house. Charles and Kingsley’s mother Mrs Joan Ward told them that they could play and record up there in the attic. The band played in one room and the recording equipment was set up next door. On the hunt for something to help with the acoustics they came up with lining the walls with the bags from the pig feed and one of those bags is still one the wall to this day.…. Also there is mystery of just how that huge Phillips tape machine got up those stairs into the attic but somehow it was managed!
It’s been a busy month here at Rockfield as we get into the Christmas spirit! As well as some BTS photos from this month and some photos of our merch (shamelessly 😬), we wanted to say thank you to everyone who has made this year so wonderful - the bands, artists, producers, engineers, staff members, maintenance team, visitors, online followers, family members, and of course all our animals - there are so many of you to mention! You all make Rockfield what it is, and we just want to say a huge thank you. We’ve had the best year! Recorded mainly at @guilfordsound in Vermont USA, with other recording at Psalm Studio in Wiltshire and with us at Rockfield. Monmouth itself inspired 'I Hear You Mary', one of the songs on the album.
