A good film noir can make you feel like the parts of you that are lost should never be found cause they're the most real things about us.
Gilda (1946) delivers dark nights of the soul, hopeless love, the awe-inspiring spectacle of a burning femme fatale, and, interestingly, the looming doom of late-stage capitalism. What a gem!
These were shot on Karmir 160, a hand-spooled roll of 35mm film from Yerevan, Armenia that I found at @bellowsfilmlab and squirreled away for the right moment.
I really appreciate how well film can capture one's inner world. The things we create always end up holding tiny pieces of ourselves and it's interesting how photography accomplishes that.
