Artemisia is out now ❤️ I've been talking on stage on the last tour about the making of this song Europa and the 12 days at sea that was it's beggining.. These quiet days with this calm, endless horizon. I was so tired by the time i arrived on the Europa for the crossing from Athens to Dubai with my dear @polabraendle . It had been an intense but beautiful season. The sea was quiet, and there was so much space for reflection and thinking about all the wild lives under the surface, so much time to slip between dreams and reality. I was deeply missing my partner, and in this quiet crossing, it was like I could be so attuned to what he was living, it felt so real. I could live both our lives and be so close to the lives of the sea under me, all the creatures. In the myriad quiet distances, I just wanted to love more deeply than i ever had. I settled into it. This song became the first part of the greater landscape that would be this album .. Full of the unseen, uncontrollable forces that can inspire the deepest love and the most searing heartbreak.. to be transformed into whatever we can manage. Breath held while the last sliver of the sun slips away into the sea. . "I think about kissing your nose.. and I know I can love you better, and will, starting with this day and the hole that the wind and the waves made just for it" . As the last week weighs as one of the heaviest, where we struggle to hold the sands of memories and bind them into precious artefacts.. as I melt into the bed and consider how to contribute to this incredibly awkward and somehow unfortunately seemingly singular space we have for sharing grief and love.. not designed for it, but I’ll take it.. To see these glimpses of you and feel the heartbreak reflected everywhere. We found each other over countries and oceans over and over in the hardest and most joyful moments in the last 15 years. With you those could sometimes transform into the same. Sometimes we called out and sometimes we just knew where to be. As grief makes time non-linear I am sitting with you in your truck as we leave purple skies and circling vultures behind and head north. Tacos and cowboy hats, plotting matching switchblade tattoos I doodled on a napkin while we ate collard greens and cornbread, Sun studio dreams, dancing in the daytime at Tootsie, losing the muffler and befriending the mechanic’s skittish guard dogs before crossing the boarder. I am with you in Sherwood Forest searching for the great oak, in the prison turned venue for a pre-show hug, in Belgium lying on the grass wondering if you’d gotten this show by accident because someone thought it was Christian music. On top of the Swiss mountain with the ghost of a dragon, re-watching all the X files in slow hot summer days.. Waves and waves of more like this keep crashing.. You gave me everything you could and tried your hardest. Haunted and enchanted. I invoked you in most of what I do and you were there with your voice and grooves and guitar and guidance and support. I played you everything.. I pray for this veil to be thin and I know I’ll find you still, over and over.. Join us this Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at ahorn space @mein.ahorn Hermannplatz 8 for a Name Writing Ritual facilitated by the @grieving_doves . «  NAME WRITING The process is deeply reflective and calls our imagination to the lost lives behind the names and their unfinished life stories. It is harrowing but profoundly necessary that we both mourn and remember the dead. Our wings are there to share a simple but crucial message: by carrying the wings in demos and in public space we want to remember and grieve the Palestinian victims of the genocide. We call for a ceasefire and an end to the indiscriminate killing of Palestinians in Gaza. We stress the call that Palestinian lives matter and for the end of the illegal occupation of Palestine. We call ourselves “Grieving doves” as doves of peace and justice, which cannot fly anymore, crushed by deep sadness and despair of the genocide, unfolding in front of us all. #palestinianlivesmatter not because other lives don’t matter but because all human lives are precious and human rights are universal. Palestinian lives matter equally, however, in public discourse in Germany the loss of lives of thousands upon thousands of humans has been ignored or dehumanized, referred to as « collateral damage », or worse victim blamed. For us, each of these lives was not only a number, each had a name, family, home, life, and dreams. Thus, our actions aim to create space to grieve for those, killed in Gaza, appealing to humanity and for the preciousness of human lives, of Palestinian life. We firmly believe that peace in Palestine means peace for the entire region. »
