my default response to recognition, compliments etc is to be self-deprecating and deflect, but I’m not going to do that this time, I’m going to accept it and just say thank you. thank you @ymbawards and @aim_uk for this award. entrepreneurship ain’t for everybody (and that’s ok) - it’s a never ending learning curve with high highs and low lows. I feel very blessed that essentially my love for sharing music, telling stories & connecting people has turned into the most unexpected, multi-faceted, rewarding career. over the years Forward Slash has expanded from just strategy to delivering campaigns end-to-end, studio productions, educational products and now 1-on-1 consulting - partly because I saw gaps that needed to be filled in the market, and partly out of necessity in such a rapidly changing industry. some L’s, some Ws - it is what it is. I think the biggest lesson I’ve learned to date is to be clear on your vision and be willing to evolve and adapt when the things out of your control change. basically, stay on your toes while staying ten toes down. enough said! thank you to the Forward Slash gang right back to 2019, and once again thank you to Young Music Boss Awards šŸ«¶šŸ¾

one of my superpowers is taking a problem/challenge and coming up with a creative solution for it. might be a clever strategy for your brand, might be a banging DJ set to capture a certain mood ✨ I’m definitely not a designer but I really got into my interior design bag for this one. this space is almost 4x the size of the previous Forward Slash office so I knew it was gonna be a task šŸ˜… I wanted to get it done in a pretty short space of time, and of course underestimated quite how much work and energy would be needed to pull it altogether. the brief I set myself for the space was somewhere my team actually wants to work from; somewhere functional but also vibrant, and of course comfy. I designed, painted, project-managed, assembled, furnished and feng-shui’d the sh*t of this space with a little help from my friends (and my mum <3). I think it turned out pretty good but I’m biased šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø #officemakeover #officerenovation #workspacedesign

Ever wondered what actually happens in Cannes?! Our founder @k2rah_ was asked to be a judge at this year’s @cannes_lions festival along with a panel of jurors from around the world for the Music awards category. This category celebrates creative music collabs and branded music content, and included work from the likes of BeyoncĆ© to not-for-profits in Brazil. There’s the judging, the awards show, the jury insider talks, workshops, lectures etc, and that’s just at Cannes Lions itself. Step out onto the Croisette and there’s a whole other world of ā€˜fringe’ events. Essentially brands set-up shop on the beach for the week and organise panel talks, product demos, music performances and other activations - day and night. Keturah even spotted our work on the Union Black campaign (@youtubemusic & @googleartsculture ) being showcased at the Google Beach ✨ Everything fringe is free with sign-up or guestlist (most with capacity limits) and there’s more to do than is physically possible to get around in one week! It’s a pretty unique place, great for making new connections and worth experiencing firsthand - expect to come back inspired and tired (you’ll need a holiday to recover after!). Keturah & Dave had an incredible afternoon at @meta on Monday, discussing Social and Creator trends in our panel alongside Cineworld Cinemas Ltd’s Carla Boyd and Universal Music Group’s Janey Stride. Our perspectives on engaging creators, the need for community building and reaching diverse, youthful audiences in cinema and film hopefully gave attendees some fresh perspectives to take away.
