Are we stuck with the established typographic principles of the 20th century? 📖
For this project, Matter Of (@matterof.online ) reopens a century-old conversation and pushes it into an unstable, speculative present.
A hundred years after “New Typography,” the idea of a “new” New Typography emerges, not as an update, but as a way to dissolve fixed rules. Instead of progress, it proposes a reorientation between past and present, bringing overlooked and marginalized practices into focus.
Across 243 figures and six theoretical proposals, the book unfolds as a dense network of texts, diagrams, and images that challenge linear reading. It resists definition – neither manual, nor archive, nor history.
Instead, it becomes an open space where typography is continuously renegotiated.
