Introducing CEN Member SUSO BARCIELA Critic, curator and art advisor Suso Barciela (Seville, 1995) is a critic, curator, and art advisor specialized in contemporary art, with a career that combines theoretical reflection and curatorial practice. His work explores how art is constructed and circulates within institutional, media, and commercial systems, addressing themes such as visibility, narrative, and the role of the viewer in the artistic experience. He uses writing and curation as tools for critical thinking, understanding art not only as an aesthetic object but as a space for ideas, tensions, and meanings. A few days ago, I had the opportunity to present "TMR – Time, Mutation Results" to the public in Lisbon, through an Artist Talk organized as part of my residency at @zaratan.arte.contemporanea In this session, I shared the process behind the publication and the ideas that run through it: the passage of time, transformation, and the mark they leave on bodies, cities, and landscapes. The fanzine combines photography and text to explore how elements like water or erosion remind us of the impermanence of everything around us. Inspired by wabi-sabi philosophy, it seeks to find beauty in mutation and in what many would call "wear and tear" or "ruin."
