A glimpse behind the scenes of our RHS show garden… 🌸

@the_RHS Chelsea Flower Show just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to look back at what goes into creating a show garden, from concept through to completion.
A few years ago, we had the privilege of designing and building a show garden to celebrate the 150-year anniversary of the Royal National Institute of Blind People (
@RNIB ), a very meaningful project that focused on creating a sensory, immersive experience.
Designed as a community space, the garden was filled with contrasting colours, soft textures and fragrant planting, encouraging visitors to engage through touch and scent. It quickly became a haven for pollinators too 🐝
Multi-stem Betula utilis var. jacquemontii and an avenue of Prunus serrula were carefully chosen for their striking bark, adding year-round visual interest. A winding walkway invited visitors to explore, with corten steel screens offering a unique perspective by simulating different eye conditions.
At its heart, a secluded seating area created a calm, enclosed space for rest and reflection, enhanced by gentle water features 💧
Behind the scenes, projects like this are a true collaboration of design, planning and passion, and we were incredibly proud to be awarded an RHS Silver Medal, as well as the People’s Choice Award for World and Show Gardens 🏆
