On the occasion of his solo exhibition at our 76 Grand Street gallery in New York, Sharif Farrag (@sharif5 ) collaborated with our friends at Folder Studio (@folderstudio ) to create Volume 1 of the his 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐬 & 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐬. 📖 Adapted from his Master of Fine Arts thesis at the University of California, Los Angeles, it is compendium of the words and themes, with definitions, that inform his work. It is a remarkable document, showing the profound insights and experiences that he channels into his work. “𝚃𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚐𝚕𝚘𝚜𝚜𝚊𝚛𝚢 𝚒𝚜 𝚊 𝚕𝚒𝚟𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚍𝚘𝚌𝚞𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝, 𝚒𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚍 𝚒𝚗 𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚕-𝚝𝚒𝚖𝚎, 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚠𝚒𝚕𝚕 𝚋𝚎 𝚛𝚎𝚟𝚒𝚜𝚎𝚍 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚊𝚍𝚍𝚎𝚍 𝚝𝚘 𝚌𝚘𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚞𝚘𝚞𝚜𝚕𝚢 𝚊𝚜 𝚖𝚢 𝚕𝚒𝚏𝚎 𝚐𝚘𝚎𝚜 𝚘𝚗. Jeffrey Deitch has your summer reading list set. Check out exhibition catalogues by Alake Shilling and Pat Phillips, and don’t miss your chance to get your hands on a copy of Luncheons on the Grass: Reimagining Manet’s Déjeuner sur l’herb (Jeff Koons approved!). We also have the beautiful artist book ‘Orgy for Ten People in One Body’ by Isabelle Albuquerque. And enjoy vibrant shapes and colors with Clay Pop by Alia Dahl. Soon enough, summer days will turn into fall and you will be able to cozy up with your own copy of Rammellzee’s long awaited monograph Racing for Thunder with the help of Rizzoli. To purchase any of our books please visit our website ( /special-projects/publications ) or visit our bookstore at our 7000 Santa Monica Blvd. gallery! And many thanks to the wonderful contributors, publishers and editors! __ #books #jeffreydeitch

A Section of Now
Social Norms and Rituals as Sites for Architectural Intervention 🏢 Still available on weltkern.com A Section of Now aims to re-establish a dialogue between architecture and society that would allow architecture to begin to contend with and address our changed and changing social norms. The publication serves as a meditation on new behaviours, rituals, and values and their spatial implications and seeks to catalyse urban and architectural interventions that accommodate, influence, and, in some cases, pre-empt our new lived realities. Authors address topics ranging from the safety of digital spaces to how normative life trajectories affect the elderly and the many selves each of us puts forward, while architects present frameworks for, among other things, spaces for blended families, thirty-year-old retirees, and contested monuments. Bringing together analytical essays about the contemporary moment and the direction in which society is moving, projective texts that outline new architectural types to address societal needs, alongside television series, photography, and architecture and design projects, A Section of Now outlines a new relationship between the spaces in which we live and the ways we live within them.
