Rook is a 9 year old Scottish Fold. I adopted him in Delaware in 2021 from @ffas_delaware and flew him to California with me. He has been my emotional support through years of my own illness & ups and downs 💞

2 years ago, he was diagnosed with FIV and got sick (wasn’t eating for 6+ days) the vet recommended putting him down. The day that he was scheduled for euthanization, he walked over to his bowl and ate food. He’s had no health issues since.

Rook’s bestie is my roomie’s cat Bean - Bean has helped Rook be more active & they play together everyday. Today when I pulled out his carrier, Bean walked in and sat inside it 🥹 Rook is so loved, he is a strong boi and I choose to believe he will make it through whatever this is even stronger than before 🙏

I like to celebrate the whole month to counteract the birthday blues 🎉

In February I had psychogenic non-epileptic seizures almost every day - it was exhausting. One of my main triggers was the thought “I am proud of myself”. I would have that thought, and suddenly lose my eyesight and/or hearing and experience extreme fatigue + brain fog. I figured my trauma was regressing, but it turns out my neuropathways were just overwhelmed by the unfamiliarity of self love.

When I became debilitated for multiple months in 2023-2024, I lost a lot of hope. I feared I would never walk again, let alone work for myself or anyone else. My seizure counselor was originally approved by my insurance in 2024 for just 6 months, but generously advocated for me to see her for the following 2 years. We had our final session last week and reviewed my progress and the symptom management that I must continue on my own. I’m so grateful for her and my medical team. I am so grateful that neuroplasticity is real!

In January 2025, I launched my new business - I could not have done this without the support of my parents, the Dept of Rehab, and the various entrepreneurs who hire me to help them grow.
.
Since mid-March of 2026, I have been experiencing less symptoms neurologically & physically. So many dreams that felt impossible at times, have come true for me.
.
I am forever grateful to my parents and CA community for uplifting me, and helping me find my way to the person I am today. I have hope for my future and am ultimately grateful for the variety of symptoms I’ve experienced since childhood - I believe that the symptoms I’ve experienced and continue to manage are a part of my journey that allow me to have further depth in empathy, compassion, and consideration for others. I hope to continue helping others with dynamic disabilities in a variety of ways throughout my career, so they may grow confidence in providing for themselves and pursuing work they love. We all deserve to live lives that we love, and to feel proud of ourselves for how resilient we are in this lifetime 💞
