I've been loving these pics @faces.of.flow got of me. Seeing the long exposure shots makes me want to play more with light painting and see what other shapes come out of my flow state. It really brings me back to the main purpose of Flowarts for me which is just having fun. Giving my body the freedom to express while focusing on my planes, timing, and hand placement allows me to manipulate my prop into drawing thousands of shapes and patterns. Getting to explore these new avenues like long exposure where I can express my love and joy for these simple yet amazing toys gives me a breath of fresh air and another perspective of how I can evolve and push my flow even further. I would really LOVE to test this out in a VR setting, being able to paint the world around me with my light sounds amazing. I remember @lanternsmith and @proplogic.studio were cooking up a VR flowarts app of some kind, but it sadly never took off. Just another beautiful Wednesday burning things with friends and sharing good vibes. It's really special to participate in such a supportive community that lets you live in your flowstate. That's why I drive 4 hours just to burn with my LA flowmies. Being able to find that cozy place in your mind where every motion flows out naturally with ease. It can take a lot of time and discipline, but with the cheers of my friends and community on the sidelines it feels effortless. They inspire me to push myself, try new things, and most importantly enjoy the journey not the destination. Shortly after learning contact staff I found my love for poi. It was hard at first, but the challenge of using both hands fluidly is what kept me going. Being in the presence of amazing Flow Artists like @grandmasterong @lawless_eoghan and @ryanmoray really inspired me to push myself with it and be as good as them. Slowly, but surely I got better the more I practiced. Connecting with my Flowarts family and asking them how manipulate the fire like they do. If you see someone that inspires you don’t be intimidated to go up and talk to them. This art form is built on community. The positivity and radical inclusion it offers is what makes it so special for me. It makes me so happy to share this beautiful fiery art with everyone and anyone I can whether you’re a spectator or participant. I don’t think I express my love for the people in my life enough. I am entirely dependent on relationships. And it feels so natural with them that it may feel like putting gratitude into words feels unnecessary. I go really deep into conversations, and get very intimate with few people. I think I overlook that detail of showing appreciation and can get harsh and blunt with people because there actually is so much at stake. Without them- my life wouldn’t matter to me. My best friends are the main people I can confide in, they help me when I’m sick, broke, when I need advice, or just someone to talk to. So sometimes, even when it’s something small, it can feel like something huge. And I can get intense. Another thing is, love lends us the safety to reveal our more disturbed emotions- they see the real us. And I’m not always the kindest most polite person. In the end, I do remind myself that we are in this together, it’s us against the problem. And I bear in mind that I’m not always the most pleasant person to be around. Recently my friend told me about a job application for @cirquedusoleil and I just happened to connect with an amazing photographer/videographer @ivstreets . I told him about the ASAP application deadline, my 17 year history with flow, and my everlasting passion for firespinning and flow arts overall. We linked up and locked in together making a media package from scratch in 3 days. Headshots, bodyshots, presentation video, new resume, and a performance demo reel. It's really impressive for me to see someone else dedicated to their craft being so versatile while also having the ability to deliver professional quality media. His camera is his paintbrush and you can really see that through his work. The timing was perfect and I'm still riding this amazing high of inspiration, a yearning to perfect my craft, and a desire to teach and share the flow with everyone I meet. I have so much love and appreciation for the flow arts community. Thank you @FireflowLA for hosting such a welcoming safe space we can go to burn things and express ourselves fully.
