I have loved jazz improvisation since I was in 5th grade. I admired, copied, got attached to certain riffs. I drilled techniques, scales, took classes, lessons, was brought together with people. It was an adrenaline rush to improvise and feel my improvement. Flow arts is stimulating in the same way for me.
I drill technical skills, memorize choreography, transitions, each are like vocabulary I can use for improvisational sentences. My hands memorize the movement. It’s an emotional experience, unifying, an adrenaline rush. It’s another world of self expression. It is deeply introspective. It communicates perspective and reflects individuality.
Flow arts is curating, using a different art form that can contain so many elements to it.
The filming of fire flow is another interest of mine. Styling, setting, costumes, behind the camera work— it’s a beautiful collaboration. Thank you @fantasieflows for learning fire breathing with me and @callahanjmorgan both of you for making this shoot happen.
ALSO THANK YOU @organic_pyrotechnic for teaching this skill!

This was a fun moment captured during one of my free LA group photoshoots at an abandoned bunker. @6bonk saw this circular imprint in the concrete, and came up with the impromptu idea to perform somewhat of a ritual around it. She came up with some loose choreography and just went for it and this is what we produced!

The reason why I make videos is because it feels like a creation of art, a honing in on skills, and a stepping stone that will lead me to creating even greater things. Plus I love to share fun moments like these with my friends :)

Who also really helped me with my video editing skills!

And a huge thank you to everyone who makes moments like these happen. Rob lets me use his dragon staff, Margot inspired me to get in the water, people just being super awesome and generous etc etc :)
When midnight was about to strike, we embraced the new year energy by setting the rain on fire. 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣6️⃣🐦🔥
My creative inspiration was overflowing and I just had to get us outside (we did not plan this at all). What an exciting and inspiring feeling it was; the cold rain and the spicy fire. The rain hitting the fire created blue steam lit by our backlight. My senses were ignited. I’m really happy with how these came out, too. I have never seen anyone capture photos quite like these, nor have I ever seen fire photography in the rain at all. It feels great to step outside of my comfort zone.
I have also never edited our photos with illustrator until now. There was no intent to make a triangle but afterwards I couldn’t resist making it into the famous album cover.

Flow state achieved, from the flames, the camera, to the backdrop and lighting, we understood the assignment 🫡
Samantha here! Not only that, collaborating felt (and always feels) so natural with Callahan— we kept going, for 7 HOURS. I was so motivated and passionate about the process that I only realized my whole body was hurting until we finally called “that’s a wrap!” 😎
Being in this abandoned waterpark felt like we were in a post apocalyptic movie. The sights and the atmosphere were so cool, 10/10 will go back.
Callahan here! This video was one of my favorites to create yet. Samantha and I have developed a deep connection that leads to a creative chemistry that feels like dancing together. As a videographer, I find myself entering a different type of flow state in capturing performers. There is an element of reactivity and as well as prediction that is required to be fully attuned to the flow of your partner. Having worked many times with Samantha, I have developed a vocabulary of moves that she employs. This video was shot on a fisheye lens that required me to be within inches of her for the majority of the recording. So being in sync with her was required to get the shots shown in this edit.
My heart flutters with my flowmies.
Flow artists merge elements from other parts of their life. People add elements of salsa, acrobatics, contact improv, aerial, belly dance, merengue, burlesque, ballet, and so many more kinds of dance. And then there is the method of collaboration people bring. You can balance leading with following, choreography with improvisation, performance with play, and shift between focus on each other and on the audience. I get excited to see what people can do with flow. It’s endlessly inspiring. So glad I was able to put so much time into this passion of mine so I can be a part of the art and the community.

I attended flows-giving last night. @fireflowLA lights a fire under me, pushing me to expand and try new props. @aweisol has been so supportive and let me try out his body torches, which led me to have one of the most exhilarating flows I’ve had in a while. Six torches unlocks visual compositions and shapes and my body felt like a flow prop with focal points that draw your eyes to where there is movement.
I also can’t express how much it means to me when I have an audience of people I look up to, completely focused. I get so emotional.
These moments captured by Callahan are so special to me. @faces.of.flow is an eternal flame when it comes to support. One of the brightest lights that shines. ✨📸
@sydvilized and @zay.sparkles brightened my night as well by coming out with us from Santa Barbara.
Thank you so much to literally every single person that comes out to these events. 🔥 I love you 🫶
Yesterday, I watched a video of me holding a lit fire prop for the first time (It was almost exactly one year ago 🎉). I was holding fire fans in my hands with this expression on my face like “WHAT AM I HOLDING?” 🫠And funnily, this drastic show of progress helped me feel like I’ve improved in a meaningful way.
My progress is real. I am a real, dedicated fire artist. I have been expressing myself through this medium for a year. Not only do I spin fans, poi, and dragon staff, but I play with weird props, spin different things and the same time, hop on someone’s shoulders while I spin, etc etc… this experimentation is my favorite part of being an artist.
This is thanks to all of the support and good vibes at @sbfireflowarts and @fireflowla
Can’t thank every single person in our community enough for showing up and making Fireflow what it is.
thank you @aweisol for taking this video 🫶
