Rob has been a pillar in the fire flow community of Southern California for many years, contributing in countless ways to the ever evolving world of flow arts. For many of us he’s made props, hosted events, and shared probably hundreds of gallons of fuel at this point 😂
He drives up to Santa Barbara from LA twice a month to attend our meetups, and we couldn’t be more grateful for his presence in our community. Thank you Rob and happy birthday!

Fire shapes geometry in negative space 📐
The geometry of flow photography is an element I’ve been intrigued by for a while, but haven’t fully investigated. Geometry informs composition and invites the viewer to see harmony in line and pattern. The photos I took of double staves in this post invoke a geometric relationship between the two straight lines interacting and creating negative space. The relationship between prop and body is always present.
These photos were taken at the @sbfireflowarts meetup at East Beach in Santa Barbara. I’ve really been enjoying this community of fire spinners :)
