Tomorrow Saturday August 17th We'll be at South Shore Riverfront Park, ans Sunday August 18th at North Shore Riverfront Park [just under that giant statue of #MrRogers o dammm] both at 6pm. 💛 NYC was both challenging and magical. Our show took on different forms due to the circumstances of the river. this was the only performance on our entire tour where we had to do the tricks off the boat for the crew’s safety. The audience was lovely and deeply engaged with us. We had the chance to be closer to them as we performed. So grateful for this beautifully captured video! Feeling incredibly thankful for the amazing audience who helped bring our imagination to life ❤️ We’ll continue to hold each other’s hands tightly and create more wonder in this world 🤝💛

@flotsamrivercircus concluded their Summer season with a free performance at the Newtown Creek Nature Walk in Greenpoint on Sunday, wrapping up a tour that spanned the Hudson River, in celebration with the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal. I caught a portion of their performance a few days prior in Brooklyn Bridge Park, and will have a full photo set of both shows ready to share soon!

Sunset with the beloved @flotsamrivercircus on the shores of the East River. After traveling from Buffalo to NYC floating down the Erie Canal, this is gonna be their last stop. You can still catch them today and tomorrow (Sept. 13–14) at Randall’s Island–Wards Island Park.-

With a heavy heart, we report that yesterday at the climax of our Brooklyn performance, our circus strongman fell from the boat and broke his wrist. Matty, the most brave, dogged hero. Our bright eyed babe, the backbone of our circus, our bus driver and babysitter, our pilot and unstoppable gentle giant, who is always so thoughtful sweet and kind, whose heart overflows into the world, and who has every year worked harder than anyone on the crew to make this dream a reality. Without Matty this would be a vastly different project, and might even be impossible. A few days ago when our mixer crapped out in Hoboken, Matty hopped on his bike, took a ferry to Manhattan, and returned within a half hour with a new mixer under his arm. He has cared for us all so much, and is one of the most wonderful humans any of us has ever met. He is also an offline Luddite, and would never toot his horn, and values his privacy, so I won't extol him half as much as he deserves. I'm not sure a more selfless giving kind and helpful person could exist. His first impulse after falling was that he didn't want to scare the kids, and then that the show should go on without him. Matty refused an ambulance and walked himself to a nearby hospital. But there are going to be a lot of other expenses. He is on Medicaid in North Carolina, which does not cover out of state ER visits. He was shuttled through to two emergency rooms where they told him he would need surgery, and then simply set his bone and didn't give him any painkillers. They did a cat-scan against his will - thankfully no concussion - but his wrist is bad. At this point we don't know how much his operations will cost (he thinks total maybe $70k+) Please donate to support his recovery. No matter how much you can afford, any donation helps.
