Flocked Paradiso Lace Panel
A new collaboration between MYB Textiles, Annika from @maison_du_flock and Sara + Sarah @smarttextiledesign from Smart Textile Design.
Our Paradiso Lace Panel reimagines a classic Nottingham lace design with hand-printed flocked bird motifs. This bespoke lace panel combines heritage craftsmanship with contemporary innovation.
The flock is produced from clippings created during our Scottish Madras weaving process, transforming textile waste into a refined decorative feature. This creates a subtle, tactile surface that enhances the detail and depth of the Paradiso design.
Available in grey as shown, with bespoke colour options on request. Suitable for interior applications where craftsmanship and material innovation are key.
Shown in dark grey, with bespoke colour options available. Please contact us for more information on this latest innovation.

We’re happy to share that we’ve been awarded funding from Innovate UK @weareinnovateuk (Resource Efficiency for Resilience and Sustainability – FS) for a fast-paced 2-month project to continue evolving our collaborative work as FLOCC ✨
This enables us to continue to collaborate and work with @mybtextiles1900@sudburysilkmillsshop@sudburysilkmills@camirafabrics and @velutexflock - - exploring the feasibility of converting natural fibre textile waste from UK heritage mills into 100% natural electrostatic flock for high-value design applications.
FLOCC is developing a design-led pathway to transform heritage mill by-products, in this project, selvedge waste — into valuable surface materials for textiles and interiors. Extending the project to another mill and establishing key supply chain partners allows us to experiment with new fibre types and colours directly from source materials.
Over two months, we’ll be focusing on process validation, material demonstrators, and defining a scalable route for transforming natural fibres into flock.
If you’re interested in working with cotton, silk, or mixed cellulose flock fibre, we’d love to start a conversation — please get in touch! Image 1-6 pulling and mechanically processing the selvedge edges @camirafabrics and Image 7&8 the waste selvedge and blanket warp -Sudbury Silk Mills.

Our Idea: Transforming Textile Waste Through Innovation
Our project focuses on converting MYB Textiles’ cotton clips into a natural flock fibre. This closed-loop, cellulose-based material can be used in its raw form or processed for electrostatic textile flocking, which creates a soft, short velvet pile on fabric or paper.
To showcase this textural material, we have developed a prototype collection flock printed on MYB’s heritage lace. This process adds colour and texture, creating contemporary textiles that merge traditional manufacture with hand-craft and embody circular design.
Meet us at Klokgebouw Hal 3 #circulardesign #ddw25 #dutchdesignweek2025 #closetheloop with @smarttextiledesign@flocc_@mybtextiles1900
A sneak peek of what’s coming to Dutch Design Week!
Join us from 18–26 October at stand 3.14 in Klokgebouw.
* Annika from maison du flock will be setting up and on the stand 18–20 October
* I’ll be on the stand 21–23 October
* Sarah Taylor will be on the stand 24–26 October
We’re collaborating with MYB Textiles, using their waste cotton clips to create a super-soft electrostatic flock fibre. This cotton flock is being applied back onto MYB’s Nottingham and Madras lace fabrics, producing intricate, tactile, lace-like effects that explore new possibilities for sustainable textile design.
Come and see us in person at Dutch Design Week — we’d love to show you what we’ve been working on.
What a weekend!
We spent it at @dovecotstudios - here we are Sara & Sarah @smarttextiledesign and Annika @maison_du_flock running a cotton flocking workshop. The flock fibre is made entirely from waste cotton clips, and participants got to work with handmade paper from @paper.foundation — created using the same cotton waste from @mybtextiles1900 Madras manufacture.
From screen-printing imagery inspired by MYB’s lace archive, to designing stencils and hand-painting, everyone left with a unique flocked artwork — all made from lace cotton waste!
