Free entry, deep global music selections by Omar & our host @modrums.music ✨️🌍🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🌍✨️ Omar Ahmad is a Palestinian-American composer, producer, DJ and sound artist living in New York City. Alongside Alicia Coleman (Sweet Kicks) Ahmad is co-founder of @weareumboma a recurring global dance event emphasizing African, Arab and Latin American contemporary sound. He is a contributing DJ at Laylit, the largest and fastest-growing contemporary Middle Eastern and North African music community in New York. He has been a stalwart member of the underground Brooklyn electronic scene for many years and has been a guest performer with Karachi Community Radio, Radio Alhara, The Lot Radio, and more. His debut solo record, Inheritance was released in 2023 by AKP Recordings to a wide spectrum of praise, including Electronic Sound, Bandcamp’s Best Ambient Music, and DJ Mag’s “Eight Emerging Artists You Need to Hear.” Since its release, he has not rested in his support of sonic resistance and collective liberation through the Palestinian lens via live performances and new improvisations, and his new single Tala’ al-Badru ‘Alayna was featured on Resident Advisor through PTP’s Palestinian Resistance compilation. The Inheritance Remix EP just dropped last week with excellent contributions from Sam OB, Otodojo, Tammy Lakkis and more.

6/20- SMALL WORLD 4:30-8:30pm @acehotelnewyork host- @modrums.music Our first guest is: Linda Artola, better known as La Lin, is from Diriamba, Nicaragua. Music and dancing has always been an essential part of La Lin’s life. As a kid, she recorded her favorite hits on cassettes (and then cds) to keep the party going. Her tapes included rock, pop, cumbias, salsa, quebraditas, merengue and whatever would catch her ear, which makes her taste go through many genres. La Lin was also the lead singer of CulturaFolk, a band that experimented with sounds of tropical-alternative rock. When she moved to NY, new worlds of music were added to her repertoire. She collects vinyl and enjoys selecting songs to make people dance or feel nostalgic, or both. La Lin is part of @discolocas a club of women vinyl selectahs.

Zuzuka Poderosa, an Indo-Sur American artist renowned for her unique Baile Funk and Global Bass blend and multilingual music and her latest Brazilian boogie hit w/ “Moqueca,” w/ Captain Planet & Raphael Futura. She organizes Baile Joia, a cultural event showcasing DJs and producers with Brasilidades & Global Grooves alongside DJ Flavya & Eduardo Brecho,while her music, including features in Netflix’s “Jane The Virgin” and “The Suicide Squad,” and roles as a lecturer at NYU and in the documentary ‘BEYOND IPANEMA,’ highlight her diverse influence, celebrated by media outlets like NPR and MTV and Netflix.

He runs an online music platform called Island Time Radio @island_time_radio and also hosts a monthly show on Great Circles Radio called Open-World. He specializes in sharing traditional and contemporary African, Latin American, and Caribbean music.

💫 Saturday 12.9 @djnenim 💫 Back by popular domand! @djnenim will be rocking @acehotelnewyork 7-12 once again! DJ Nenim (Nenim Iwebuke) is a stylistically diverse DJ from Delta State, Nigeria. He got his start DJing funk, disco and house in Lagos and London before moving the New York in 2014. He has played at prestigious venues including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Apollo Theater. He also maintained residencies at Shrine World Music Venue and Bembe and is the progenitor of Afrobeats parties– Gbedu Afrobeats and Home and Abroad. Nenim hosts an Internet Radio Show– SEEDS OF AFRO, aired on Radio Free Brooklyn and continues to perform internationally and locally. 🎨 @mixtiiii

💫 Tonight @soundsbygaro 12.2💫 7pm til midnight @acehotelnewyork We're truly honored to present the steller producer and DJ from Cuba Garo. GARO has had over 20 years of experience in Cuban Music and has steadfastly become a leader for the new generation of Cuban producers. British DJ and BBC Radio personality Gilles Peterson dubbed him the Cuban "Madlib" when he hired the resident producer & DJ to curate his successful Cuban collaboration albums, Havana Cultura. Billboard magazine reviewed the album as a "brilliant series of Cuban recordings". As Creative Director of one of Cuba's original Hip Hop bands, "Doble Filo", and one of the early MPC owners in Cuba, Edgar was one of the pioneers responsible for crafting the DNA of the nation's unique interpretation of the rap genre — mixing in Cuban funk, soul, rock and classic Cuban samples. He has traveled and performed with Latin hip-hop delegations worldwide, opening for artists like The Roots, Kanye West, Common, Black Star, Frank-T, among others. Brands ranging from Bacardi to OkayPlayer, VICE Media, and CHANEL have called upon Edgaro to consult, collaborate, and produce with local talent on the island. Questlove considers him a record-digging buddy when visiting Cuba, and Red Bull donned Edgar as their "Cultural Ambassador" for his leadership and creative direction in producing local talent collaborations. In terms of awards, he has been granted one of the highest honors, awarded "Best Producer" by the nation's industry-standard organization, "Cuba Disco," for His work on the album "Despierta". He has also garnered five awards from the "Puños Arriba" organization, considered to be the credible underground equivalent of the BET's for Hip Hop in Cuba. Known as a public figure, Edgar hosted "Cuerda Viva" (a popular Cuban TV show on Alternative Music.  ) for five years.  Currently, Edgaro lives between NYC and Havana. He just finished constructing a recording studio and creative hub in Havana. Spinns around NY having a residence at BEMBE Brooklyn. His passion is working on the "new Cuban sound" and unifying the talents of the Cuban diaspora musicians
