So much fun at the Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park! There are many cool gadgets and exhibits to view, from electrical currents, optical illusions, to earthquake and hurricane simulators. On the second floor there are lots of kids activities such as building car models and other craftsmanship to a huge ball pit. It was $25 per adult and children under 3 are free, which comes with a free IMAX ticket to one of the 45 minute shows. There is also a snack lab that sells treats and beverages. Great place to learn and do activities with your children. Recommend! #FleetScienceCenter #BalboaPark #SanDiegoAttractions

Tomorrow is the deadline for Eligibility for individual artists to apply for critical funding in San Diego + Tijuana. As a TRANSFRONTERIZA ARTIST, I am SO incredibly proud to be a part of this binational initiative designed to strengthen the regional creative workforce. Artists Count: San Diego + Tijuana is rooted in a simple belief: artists are essential to the cultural and economic vitality of our binational region. The program launched mid-April, smack in the middle of Arts, Culture & Creativity month in America’s Finest City. The following day, Mayor Todd Gloria announced his botched version of the FY27 budget for the City of San Diego in which an unprecedented ransacking of public funds were removed from Arts & Culture, Parks, Libraries and youth services. A systemic assault on the people in our city, threatening to decimate countless of services, jobs, connections and access to better quality of life and the pursuit of happiness. Many of our city’s life-giving cultural institutions and programs would disappear, including visionary and transformative programs such as Artist Count: San Diego + Tijuana. It’s bittersweet to be helping administer this program in our region knowing it may be the last of support to our treasured artists for the foreseeable future. I encourage everyone to pay attention to this initiative as the chosen artists embark on creating work that impact and become established resource for their communities.

Not your average science class! At MTM our 6th grade students are solving real time problems happening at a local level 🌍 For STEAM night 6th grade students worked with @groundworksandiego instructors to build a real-time campus heat map AND rebuild the community surrounding the Chollas Creek watershed using renewable energy sources. These students aren’t just informed they are advocates for a better future now! #futureengineers #earthdayeveryday #sustainability #stemeducation

🤝🏽 When young people are surrounded by caring adults, real-world exposure, and the chance to practice, their confidence grows. Their sense of belonging grows. And they begin to see a version of themselves they hadn’t yet imagined. Mentorship isn’t just about advice. It’s about presence. 🧑🏻‍🏫 💫 These leaders didn’t just attend — they leaned in. Professionals from across San Diego volunteered their time, their stories, and their belief in the next generation of South County leaders. Thank you for showing up: 🙏🏽 💙 Adriana Brunner — JPMorgan Chase Bank 💙 Andres Malfavon — U.S. Bank 💙 Andrés Geurts-Barreto — Office of Supervisor Paloma Aguirre, District 1 💙 Angelina Lopez — Casa Familiar 💙 Ayarim De Anda — Blue Shield of CA Promise Health Plan 💙 Barbara Orozco-Valdivia, MPH — Alliance Healthcare Foundation 💙 Cristian Fuentes Hernandez — UC San Diego 💙 David Laurenvil — Fleet Science Center 💙 Dulce Miranda Cardoso — Casa Familiar More incredible mentors to highlight next. 🙌🏽

Our April event was dimensional with a cinematic atmosphere that had us absorbing every word of Aladrian’s purpose driven talk. With full honesty from childhood to now and all the discoveries in the midst, we were invited to understand a the importance of quiet, the necessity of connection and the undeniable threads that brings us together. Thank you Aladrian for your beautiful talk, in all the ways. Thank you to our location sponsor, the Fleet Center, it was a stunning way to experience our event. We were lucky the Library Foundation for the advocacy efforts of the places we love so much! Thank you to our awesome coffee sponsor Vigilante, always keeping us caffeinated with your delicious and thoughtfully sourced coffee. Our Print Sponsor Hudson, coming though with these gorgeous postcards by local artists Sylvia Fernández, some of which had the Mayor’s address so we can share why the art are essential. We are so thrilled to see all of you show up every month, and we love hearing what you’re working on during our 30sec pitches. Don’t forget to submit your events before the next event if you want to share. #CreativeMorningsSanDiego #CMSD #CreativeCommunity #Gratitude Thank you to our incredible team, making it all happen, sometimes at the expense of missing the talk. We could not do this without you all!

We’re closing the year full circle. 🔄 We kicked off this academic year with a networking mixer designed for our seniors as they prepared to step into college and career. Now, as we wrap up, we created that same space for our juniors — because access shouldn’t start at the finish line. It should be built along the way. 🌱 At San Ysidro High School, students stepped into a room full of San Diego professionals and practiced what most students never get to practice: eye contact, handshakes, and real conversation — not once, but over and over again, rotating through professionals across industries until it started to feel natural. 💼🤝 That repetition is the point. Confidence isn’t taught. It’s practiced. 🗣️ When students don’t just learn these skills but practice them in real spaces with real people, something shifts. They stop imagining themselves in professional rooms. They start belonging in them. 🌟 None of this happens without the professionals who showed up — not as a favor, but as a genuine investment in South County’s next generation. Thank you to everyone who gave your time, your story, and your presence. 🙏🏽

San Diego is facing an 85 percent cut to arts and culture funding. This is not just a reduction or a course correction. This is a cliff. And the question now isn’t whether people care—the response to last week’s piece made that abundantly clear—it’s whether caring is enough to change what happens next. It isn’t. Not on its own. This problem didn’t appear overnight, and accountability doesn’t belong in one place. Local leaders are making difficult choices inside a fiscal squeeze that extends far beyond City Hall. That’s real. But it doesn’t make an 85 percent cut responsible and it doesn’t absolve any of us, in the public or private sector, from the work ahead. San Diego Magazine CEO @claireelizajo breaks down four ways the city can come together to support the arts amid citywide budget cuts. Honestly, I still can’t believe this talk happened already lol. I began working on this concept in October 2025 after having an epiphany driving to Disneyland. The irony of me being an outspoken child, defiant, and resistant to any authority other than my own to now be responsible for experiences like For The Record and the Listening Room. Taking the stage at @creativemornings_sd as keynote speaker in April was a dream come true. Grateful to those who came out early, pulled up from near and far to listen. I truly believe that listen as practice has the power to transform our communities and hope we take on the practice more and more each day. Major shout out to @rameljwallace for the invitation to speak, connecting us with the @fleetscience center and the IMAX DOME! Felt like Ryan Coogler up there haha. Thank you to @rachaelnuru for holding space for me to tend to the embers of my own story and bring this message to life from day 1! @stacey_edelstein for your timely coaching, encouragement, and visual design to help excavate the excess and reveal the gold in this talk. My favorite Aquarians @chasingdom , @dauche , and @erwin_hines for your just seeing me and believing in me. My family for allowing me to grow into my voice. @infulldetail for capturing the day so beautifully and sacrificing the white shirt for the shot haha! @therealswizzz for pullin up to the Zaaa! All my collaborators and supports of the Listening Room and For The Record. Love y’all down. Listen like the future of our society depends on it. Because it does. ❤️‍🔥✨🤩
