With the start of the season for Norcal Rock Racing the team always builds a track that finds new ways to push the cars to the limits. This one was an extremely fast flowing course that was an absolute blast. Friday morning we get pits set up and the car unloaded, nerves are starting to build as this will be my first short course race in the new car. Practice session comes and I am off, quickly realize the IFS and solid axle difference. OMG it is amazing what these cars can handle from blasting thru the rock gardens, launching up the gunite section, hitting the offset rhythms section with the ability to blast thru them. We line up for qualifying and peel out Mickey Thompson tires digging in to a 3rd place spot. Round1 and we are lined up ready to go 2nd row and we go tuck into 3rd place and after a couple laps move into 2nd and hold on to it till the checkered flag drops. Look over the car in prep for the next round and all still looks good. Round 2 we line up outside front row green flag drops and we are off again tuck into 2nd place and decide to start getting the feel for the car more. Practicing different lines to find what the car is gonna like and working on my own hesitations. Pushing it harder on the outside lines to allow carrying more speed thru the turns and the speed you can blast thru the rocks is mind boggling. Finish off in 2nd place once more. Check over the car still all ino one piece. Round 3 with 2 more laps added to the total. Feeling more comfortable in the car and I was able to stay a bit closer to the leader pace on the first few laps. Once we spread out on course we switched up to “ Maintain and Finish Pace”. 2nd place in the Main event we put the car on the box in its first Short course event.
