Yesterday’s full-day trip with Tyler was an absolute blast.
Coming into the day with little to no experience with Tenkara, he quickly picked up the fundamentals and started putting fish in the net left and right. From smooth drifts to tight lining nymphs- everything just started clicking.
One of the best parts of guiding is watching someone go from curious about fixed-line fishing… to fully understanding why so many of us become obsessed with it. Simplicity, connection, and explosive strikes never get old. 🎣

The venue on the Pigeon River and Lake Logan was gorgeous and the turn out was great! I judged section #4 which was the hot spot of the day 🌊
There were 7 teams total in the tournament on the river and a super solid showing over at the kids clinic on Lake Logan!!! Afterward we reconvened for lunch, raffle prizes and of course the 🏆🎣

Days like today are what make fishing Awesome!!!Though it was a slower day on the water/ ran into multiple friends out there and ended up fishing with a group of 5 total Tenkara anglers. Only around a dozen fish in my net with best catch being an ice cold beer I spotted floating down the run; But sharing a beer with my dad while trout fishing might just take the cake! Ended up landing a nice brown — all on gear I built myself… rod, line, fly, and net.
