The past two years for women’s basketball have been game changing, literally. Historically, players in the WNBA have spent the offseason playing in overseas leagues, relying on international play for both training and pay that more closely resembled that of a typical professional athlete. While the sport was experiencing its meteoric rise, players were busy fighting with the league for equity, and revolutionizing the offseason on their own terms. Enter: @unrivaledbasketball . In less than two years, the 3-on-3 league co-founded by stars @breannastewart30 and @napheesa24 went from an idea to selling out Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for its semi-finals. For players, it’s a matter of agency and equity amid ongoing CBA negotiations. For fans, it’s a celebration of women investing in themselves. For all parties, it’s elite basketball on full display. good evening, print media lovers! NOTESOFHYPE (@notesofhype ) is a small independent press run by mixed-media artist and archivist Hypatia Sorunke (@itshypatia ). They construct printed works (prints, posters, bookmarks, zines, and books) through processes involving: the darkroom, collage art,archival media, and research to document black (&) queer lineages, cultural impact, and political movements in sports, media, and entertainment from a global perspective. Meet Hypatia Sorunke the super cool documentarian behind @fittedwbb 📕🔥 they sought out on a journey of finding community in sport and ended up uncovering thousands of fans and experiences all linking back to the love of the game and the nostalgic joys of being in arena! Hypatia stated in Vogue Magazine, ‘I think one of the most powerful things you can do is be a fan; to make a conscious choice to show up consistently as your full self, with the opportunity to witness history taking place before your very eyes.’ What a dope way to document your tribe!
