@coach_q_physio @firstprinciplesofmovement Join Coach Q tomorrow for something new from FPM’s Roundtable. ā€œQ it up w/ Qā€. We’re unpacking recent research & how to apply it! It’s easy to be overwhelmed by internet hype or how to keep up with the science. Who can you believe & how can we implement evidence in person-centered way valuing what matters to those we collaborate with. We’ll be tackling the forces threatening to burn us out by finding crewmates who will help us to burn in. It’s $400 to join as an annual member of our community or $40/month. This includes FREE access to my Cliff Notes review of the 25 most important papers to streamline your decision-making. Also, for FREE our Online Mentorship - a 4 block program broken into 10 seemless modules. Plus, video cases from both ReLoad & LA Sports & Spine. Join us live or simply for the resources or chats w/ others facing the same struggles as you.

Check out Q’s @coach_q_physio riff on why 1) rehab isn’t training if load is insufficient to trigger physiological adaptations. @alecblenis 2) if statistical effect sizes reveal there is minimal difference between manual therapy, low load exercise or training then treatment pluralism argues for moving on from internet claims about having the ā€œbestā€ treatment for X MSK pain. 3) since anyone one treatment isn’t superior to another that MSK healthcare providers need to lean into their role in promoting meeting the PAGs to mitigate risk of future NCDs. ā€œSo we need better treatments for pain?ā€ Kate Purcell ā€œThat would be amazing! But I’m not sure it’s coming anytime soon. Maybe it’s time we leaned into more preventative approaches. Strategies that reduce over-diagnosis, build resilience, and ease suffering might serve us better than reactive care - what do you think?ā€ @firstprinciplesofmovement

@morningwellnessclub hosted @firstprinciplesofmovement in LA on Sunset Blvd. @backintothesaddle @coach_q_physio riveted the room for 2 days of collaborative learning. @dmull11 helped us tie things together & I couldn’t have had a better experience with this learn it all community. Much of the intent for our community is distilled here - Rehab is Training - Phillip Glasgow Training = Healthcare @ktdabrowski ā€œIf you’re a healthcare provider provide healthā€ - Q Des’ impact will be felt for awhile as she walked us step by step through how to co-create plans around the Q ā€œwhat matters to you?ā€. Without this we wouldn’t feel confident we could apply what we learned to build hospitality relationships that can drive consistent behavior change. I can’t wait for NYC this weekend w/ Des & @dr.ryanchow where we’ll not only emphasize lower & upper body RT basics for muscle health & healthspan, but how to use Design Thinking & AI to support a personalized, human-centered approach.

As a musculoskeletal specialist, you know that building resilence doesn’t happen in isolation. Former Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy explicitly reminds us that community isn’t a luxury — it’s healthcare. The research backs this up: social connection improves pain outcomes, consistency in training or physical activity, and long-term function. At @lasportsandspine & @firstprinciplesofmovement we believe that ongoing support & community create connection & drives the consistency needed to do hard things. Community care is self-care, and it belongs at the center of how we treat the whole person. @backintothesaddle #MusculoskeletalHealth #SportsRehab #CommunityIsMedicine #MindBodyConnection #wellnessjourney

What does and doesn’t your MRI tell you? šŸ‘‰šŸ¼Your MRI will give you a snapshot of what is happening inside your body at a given moment in time… 🚫What your MRI won’t tell you is what you did to get here and what you need to now do in order to reach your goals. āœ…A good physical therapist / coach should be able to help you with: 1ļøāƒ£Understanding your current capacities and your most recent levels of fitness 2ļøāƒ£Gradually exposing you to and preparing your body for the demands of your goal physical activities 3ļøāƒ£Managing your intensities, volume, and recovery so that you stay within your current capacities and have positive adaptations with your training program 4ļøāƒ£Teaching you how to pivot and make modifications to your training when pain or injury arise 5ļøāƒ£Keeping you moving during flare-ups and set-backs so that you stay in the game and continue to move forward 🚨Note: An MRI may be valuable if you present with certain red flags that call for its medical necessity šŸ‘‹šŸ¼If you don’t have any red flags and pain and injury is standing in the way of what you want to do… šŸ«±šŸ»ā€šŸ«²šŸ¼Work with a good physical therapist or coach first. šŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļøIf you are a coach or clinician and want to learn more from @firstprinciplesofmovement @dr.ryanchow @craigliebenson and @backintothesaddle on how to view health as so much more than just the absence of disease… šŸ™ŒšŸ¼They will be teaching ā€œMusculoskeletal Resilience: A Framework at @reload.pt April 18-19 šŸ’øSave $250 if you sign up before April 1st. #reloadpt #movewithoutlimits

When people just want a quick fix, how do you develop a lasting relationship for the long-term investment in the things that are going to help them achieve sustainable athleticism and healthy longevity? I think this is a big challenge in our space. Info at or in my Linktree above. 1st up LA 4/11-12 w/ Coach Q & Des. Then, NY 5/18-19 w/ Ryan & Des. Katie is coming soon to a city near you! Power šŸ’„ > Just Muscle šŸ’ŖšŸ¼ We don’t just lose muscle as we age — we lose power even faster. Do you train power?! šŸ“‰ Power declines 2–4% per year šŸ“‰ Muscle mass declines only 0.5–1% per year This accelerated loss of force production — known as powerpenia (as @drandygalpin discusses)— directly impacts balance, reaction time, and the ability to catch yourself if you trip. It’s one of the biggest contributors to falls, loss of independence, and declining healthspan. Strength matters. But strength expressed quickly is what keeps you resilient. Power training = speed + strength. Jumps. Throws. Fast lifts. Intentional acceleration. Train power now so you can move confidently later. Your future self depends on it. šŸ’ŖšŸ”„ Join @craigliebenson @coach_q_physio @dr.ryanchow in April - see @firstprinciplesofmovement or DM me for more details.
