Training Lately ❤️ Leg days have been fun but challenging for me as the lower half has had a series of ankle, knee and even some low back stuff. All mostly flares from old injuries, but every now and then they can get annoying & I have to pivot. I have to remind myself often of the same things @craigliebenson & I tell our clients @lasportsandspine 1. Flares happen, it’s inevitable, there will be ups and downs like the stock market. >> progress is in the picture not the frame. 📈🖼️ 2. Not every hurt = harm. Is this pain or is this discomfort? What is the process of it? Does it work itself out? >> It just means the body is calibrating to the signal we’re giving it. ❤️‍🩹 3. Most of the time the stuff we are experiencing is a load capacity issue. Meaning not “overtrained” or “too much too soon” but “underprepared for the demands” being placed on the body. >> build up the tissues so they can. 🏔️ 4. Avoid ramp ups in workload/intensity >10% within session, daily to weekly. We see people go from deadlifting 225 jumping to 315, or runners going from running 1 mile to shooting for a 5k too quickly. The recovery is key and the tissues need time to adapt here. This is why we suggest starting slow & building up these tolerances. The devil is in the dosage. “Smart exposure to “dangerous exercises” is the secret to reducing injury risk” @jtperformance__ Like any medication it may need to be titrated to you 💊. (“It’s not a tissue issue, it’s a programming issue”) 5. Probably our favorite, “You should fear the consequences of being sedentary far more than the risks of injury from being active.” @hjluks1 In other words, move it or lose it. Not moving is not an option because it puts us at risk for other more serious & preventable diseases (cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, etc) ☠️ Find ways to continue moving even when you are in pain, gradually expose yourself to these activities, and train the heck of the stuff that’s green light.💚 If you’re not sure where to start, don’t hesitate to reach out! 💪🏼 #sustainabletraining #healthspan #longevity #lifespan #strengthtraining #chiropractic #legworkout #deadlifts

One step at a time. That's the mantra in the journey of recovering from set-backs . 🚶‍♀️🏇 Whether you're an equestrian athlete adjusting back into the saddle, or a non-equestrian athlete retraining your agility on the field, your thoughts may look more similar than you think: 🔹"Will I ever get back to my former capability?" 🔹"What if I re-injure myself?" 🔹"These small steps seem insignificant now." We hear you. The journey of recovery can be fraught with doubt and impatience, but remember - progress isn't always a straight line. We’re competing against some of the best sales and marketing campaigns promoting quick fixes and simple solutions… to a very complex and individualized problems. 🤷🏻‍♂️Who would choose a simple training program geared around individualized goals and the demands of the physical activity when there’s 3 special corrective exercises that can solve all your problems instead? 😓How do you educate, build relationships, and earn the trust you need with your clients (long enough) to teach them and show them how to make progress and lasting changes to their health? 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼It starts with us, it starts with you, and it starts with always focusing on “providing health” for the person in front of you. - @coach_q_physio ✅As healthcare providers and coaches we have to pivot from the status quo of a “fix it” approach and shift towards co-creating plans that focus on building the physiological adaptations required for improving metabolic health & sustainable function. #reloadpt #firstprinciplesofmovement #trianingisforeveryone

Rehab ≠ Rest Most people aren’t injured enough for surgery… but not confident enough to move normally either. That’s the gap rehab should fill. The line between rehab and performance should eventually blur. The Goal Isn’t Dependency. The best rehab should make patients more independent over time. #chiropractic #sustainableathleticism #healthylongevity #strengthandconditioning #movementismedicine

She was never just a horse. 💖🐴 Some heart horses arrive with intention—chosen carefully, dreamed about, destined to be yours. And some… just happen. The in-between horse. The “temporary” one. The one you were never supposed to keep. But somehow, she stays—and so does something in you. A heart horse doesn’t always give you an easy ride. She’ll challenge your patience, your courage, your softness. She’ll hold up a mirror to the parts of yourself you don’t always want to see. But if you’re willing to meet her there—with honesty, with curiosity, with love—she gives you something rare in return. Because a heart horse is more than a partner. She’s a reflection. A teacher. A quiet kind of magic. When you’re in sync, it feels like you could conquer anything. And when you’re not, she still stands with you—steady, honest, unwavering—loving you even when you’re struggling to love yourself. That’s the thing about horses… they give back exactly what you bring in. And the ones that become your heart horse? They give you their whole heart. And long after the rides, the lessons, the seasons… you realize she never really leaves. She lives in the way you show up. In the strength she built in you. In the love that changed you. Some friends really do need four legs— just to carry hearts that big 🤍 #hearthorse #horsesofinstagram #hoofprints

Our intent is for all every single @firstprinciplesofmovement coach & clinician to have a positive impact in their communities. A theme of our LA & NY weekends was for each prrson to leave feeling they have more resources than their demands so they burn in not burn out. Ideally we gain confidence in co-creating meaningful, personalized plans with people which are reassuring & ⬆️ self-efficacy. ❇️ Rehab is Training @pdg124 ❇️ Training is Healthcare - Katie ❇️ “If you’re a healthcare provider, provide health” - Coach Q These weekends are for establishing connections so we’re all part of a crew supporting each other regardless of where we live. @dr.ryanchow @backintothesaddle @coach_q_physio @dmull11 I hope everyone joins our FPM Roundtable for our new series “Q It Up w/ Q” which starts Saturday, May 3rd. Other Roundtable “Meet Up” guests coming up include @mackinprof co-author of the new ACSM RT Guidelines & @tendinopathyrehab tendon health expert. Our community are Badasses challenging the status quo by focusing on transformational relationships rather than transactional services. It’s about being present with people, rather than simply “doing” things. Most of all it’s about de-complexifying so we can apply what we learn efficiently w/out feeling like an imposter or burning out. Many more courses coming soon such as with @ktdabrowski & in November at EXOS w/ all of our faculty.

@dr.ryanchow @firstprinciplesofmovement @backintothesaddle Our special group at @reload.pt has come from Philly, Cleveland, MD, Montreal & throughout the NY Metropolitan area. Ryan getting into “How to Create Alignment” for the process of building the relationship necessary for consistent investments in building functional reserve. “It’s about telling people what you’re trying to do, why you think you’re going do it, why you think it’s going to work, what they should expect to feel, when you need to report back, how we’re going to make the next decision, to debrief it, and then to do that again, and again, and again, and again, and again, forever. Because things change. Things will always change. My clients always think I’m going copy and paste. “I’m going do this Monday, Wednesday, Friday for the rest of my life.”I tell them it’s the opposite. It’s actually the rule is that everything’s going to change. You’re going to travel, you’re going get sick. You’re going have to take care of a family member. You’re going to get tired. You’re going to feel great. You’re going to meet your goals. Everything is constantly changing, and so to me, this is what we do on Day One. We establish that this is a process, and that I’m gonna figure it out. I tell people on the phone before they come in that we’re, we’re gonna figure it out. They say, “I don’t know what to do.” I say, “Well, generally, you’ve got to let it calm down, and then build it up. Then integrate it into the rest of your life. If you know how to do that, like, go for it. If you want details, if you want us to figure it out, I know how to help you with that. I don’t know when it’s going get better. I don’t know what it’s going to take. I don’t know how much you can pick up. I don’t know how much you can do on your own, but we’ll figure that out together. And, you’d be surprised how many people are actually okay with that.”

Early care choices matter and we as healthcare providers need to do better. ‼️You as the client deserve better. 🕵🏻‍♀️If you’re looking for a team of healthcare providers who aren’t just focused on providing at short term pain relief and quick fixes… 📊If you’re looking for a team of coaches and clinicians that are focused on how you feel now AND how you function 20 years from now… 🙋🏻‍♂️We exist, and we’re here to help! 🧠If you want to learn more about how to provide quality care as a healthcare provider and coach for your clients… 🦮And be the guide that they need to help their Healthspan last their lifespan… 🚨There’s 2 more spots left for this weekend’s FPM course at @reload.pt where @craigliebenson @backintothesaddle & @dr.ryanchow will share with you how we do just that.

Bob turns 91 years young this week. @backintothesaddle & I are so blessed to have the most Badass community at @lasportsandspine For us the force multiplier for healthy longevity or sustainable athleticism is the same - build functional reserve for your demands. Some are universal non-negotiables like lean muscle mass, strength, balance, metabolic health & cardio-respiratory fitness. Others are matched to one’s specific performance goals. But, for every person we want to know “what matters to you?” and keep the main thing the main thing.
