New Layout: The First Friday footprint has moved to Main Street, with the Art Walk remaining on Boulder Avenue (next to the Arts Factory) and flowing onto Main Street. 🚧
The Arts District exists because people showed up.
In October 2002, Cindy Funkhouser, Julie Brewer, and Naomi Arin invited local artists to set up on the sidewalks on a Friday night. Fourteen people came. That was the first First Friday.
More than two decades later, that same spirit draws tens of thousands to this neighborhood every month. It is the inspiration for what the Arts District has become.
18b's Board of Directors has issued a statement affirming our support for First Friday and the principle that it must remain free and open to the public. We also recognize that the businesses and residents who call this neighborhood home deserve real attention to the safety and infrastructure challenges that come with growth.
The Arts District belongs to everyone who shares these values. 18b will continue to serve as the institutional voice for this neighborhood and the people who make it extraordinary.
