The hardest part of this campaign wasn’t the long hours, or the travel, or the tight deadlines, it was being away from my family for so long. I love you, @instaflunkie and Ellora, thank you for being so understanding while I did what I could for the campaign this year! Here’s a little video to explain it to Ellora when she’s older. #kamalaharris #kamala2024 #vote #campaign

This week has been a bit of a surprise for me, to say the least. I first had the privilege of working for now Vice President Kamala Harris back in 2015 when she ran for US Senate, and again when she ran for President in 2019, and both times were an absolute honor. I've also been fortunate enough to work for President Biden's campaign for the last year. Both hold a big place in my heart. Three weeks ago I took leave from Rope Line to join the campaign full time as the Vice President's photographer, and on Sunday, that job took on new meaning. I'll do my best to share the next couple of months of my life here, when I can, but you might get a better look at my work following @kamalaharris (and voting!) Big thanks to @ropeline_media for helping me on this journey these last few years, and @shelbylcole for being one of the best bosses and advocates I've ever had. And @arunchaud who got me into this wild line of work over a decade ago. Also big thanks to @rollinsmedia_ and @dccl who are in the trenches with me and have been doing the President's good work the last few months! And most importantly my wife @instaflunkie who has taken on most of the childcare while still being a badass Public Defender saving people's lives. It's a lot to juggle and she's absolutely exceptional. The energy I've seen the last week on the campaign has been incredibly inspiring, and I CANNOT WAIT for November 5th. We got this. Sincerely, Eric Elofson PS: Do I have to sign off with Sincerely still? It's been a while since I used instagram...

Last week was a beautiful blur - a highlight of the Democratic National Convention for me was on Tuesday when in addition to a packed stadium in Chicago, we went up to Milwaukee where we simultaneously packed a SECOND stadium and livestreamed it into the first. Someone on the campaign: "Por qué no los dos?" THE highlight though, was of course the Vice President's speech, and the reaction of the crowd to it. People are PUMPED, and it brings me so much joy. Get ready for more fun in Georgia this week! #DNC #convention #2024 #kamalaharris

A year ago me and some friends took a VERY long road trip across the country*, and while we never got to where we were headed, we made a lot of good memories along the way. #kamalaharris #2024 #campaignlife *All 7 states. #abolishtheelectoralcollege

We were stuck backstage before Colbert's show last year, when @stephenathome came into the world's tiniest hallway. He kept us entertained while we waited for the Vice President - and no exaggeration, he put on a 20 minute private comedy special for like 4 of us... he told jokes, he ballroom danced, he did voices - he was incredible, and so, so friendly. He didn't need to do that, we were just campaign staff and USSS agents. But that's what makes him one of the greatest living comedians, he's just always funny, and apparently also always a wonderful human being. This is a bad day for TV and a bad day for America, but I'm sure he'll land somewhere else and continue using his wit to hold the powerful accountable, for as long as our constitution continues to protect that kind of speech.

My last day in South Africa did not disappoint, and while I sadly was not there to documents wildlife, I did have gear on hand when they showed up on the side of the road!

It’s been a perilous journey. I barely survived… 6 dinners with @plazamenor in Makhanda, South Africa. And just so i’m being perfectly clear, this white genocide nonsense is a racist dog whistle lie - I’m here in the eastern cape and everyone has been so lovely and nice. #whitegenocide #hoax #southafrica🇿🇦 #makhanda #grahamstown #easterncape

View of the lunar eclipse last night from my roof. It was partly cloudy so most of the shots have a bit of a haze to them. The final shot of the Total Eclipse was the only glimpse I got of it in about an hour of watching, it lasted for less than a few seconds. I believe that's Mars and Jupiter off to the right? Big thanks to @nathanhowardphoto for the last minute lens!

In 2024 I estimate I took about 400k photos of POTUS and VP and maybe 2 trillion photos of my daughter. I starred in one semi viral video, witnessed one total eclipse, debuted a short doc film, screened my first doc feature edit at a festival, witnessed my daughter’s first steps and said a tearful goodbye to a suitcase. For 2025 I’ve decided to retire to India to work the land. Someone tell @plazamenor @hilaryhess and @ropeline_media , no more photos, I’m a farmer now. Unless this also doesn’t work out in which case tell them I’ll be back in a month. Happy new year!
