I’ve been experimenting recently with a Hasselblad Xpan. The Xpan was a collaboration between Fuji and Hasselblad in the 90’s that produced a revolutionary camera that creates a panoramic image on 35mm film roughly the width of 2 normal frames. It’s a camera I’ve long loved but never owned. Although I haven’t finished the last roll of film in the Xpan, I’ve taken some 16x9 photos on the digital camera along the way as reference photos and the 16x9 crop is the closest crop factor I can achieve in camera. I’m really enjoying seeing scenes in this new framing and am looking forward to getting the film back soon.

Struggling with my emotions tonight as I think back on my time with President, Vice President, and Senator Biden. From the very first time I visited Dairy Queen with him, to seeing him stop to talk to the elevator operator in Las Vegas just last week, his humanity, decency, and commitment to serve the American people is something that I am humbled to have had the chance to witness for nearly two decades.

Because of the Affordable Care Act, millions of Americans have health care and the uninsured rate has been cut in half.
Because of the Affordable Care Act, insurance companies can’t deny care for pre-existing conditions.
Because of the Affordable Care Act, kids can stay on their parents health insurance until they turn 26.
14 years ago today, Presiden Barack Obama with then Vice President Joe Biden at his side, signed the Affordable Care Act into law, in the East Room of the White House.
I can’t believe it’s been 7 years since President Obama delivered his farewell address to the nation in Chicago, Illinois. In the speech, he shared these ideas that are even more important today than when they were delivered.
“Our democracy is threatened whenever we take it for granted. All of us, regardless of party, should be throwing ourselves into the task of rebuilding our democratic institutions. When voting rates in America are some of the lowest among advanced democracies, we should be making it easier, not harder, to vote.
When trust in our institutions is low, we should reduce the corrosive influence of money in our politics, and insist on the principles of transparency and ethics in public service.
When Congress is dysfunctional, we should draw our congressional districts to encourage politicians to cater to common sense and not rigid extremes.
But remember, none of this happens on its own. All of this depends on our participation; on each of us accepting the responsibility of citizenship, regardless of which way the pendulum of power happens to be swinging.”
My condolences to President Carter and the Carter family on the passing of First lady Rosalynn Carter today. Mrs. Carter died peacefully at her home in Plains Georgia with her family by her side. Mrs. Carter was married to President Jimmy Carter for 77 years and is survived by President Carter, their 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. This photo of President Carter and First Lady Rosalyn Carter was taken during a State Dinner Reception at the White House in 2010.
Great to have some of my recent work for the State of New Mexico featured by @govmlg highlighting @potus Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding that is rebuilding a wastewater treatment plant in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Former New Mexico Governor, Congressman, U.N. Ambassador, Secretary of Energy, and Humanitarian Bill Richardson died September 1st, 2023. I was fortunate to photograph then Governor Richardson as he ran for President in 2007, after he'd endorsed then Democratic nominee for President, Barack Obama, and when he came to the Vice President's Residence for a breakfast with then Vice President, Joe Biden when I was serving as a White House Photographer.

Today was an exciting day for New Mexico as Pattern Energy broke ground on their SunZia Wind and Transmission project near Corona, New Mexico. The 3.5 Gigawatt wind farm, which will generate almost 1.7 times the power of the Hoover Dam, will span nearly 90 miles, covering parts of Torrance, Lincoln, and San Miguel Counties, generating enough power for 3 million homes. The project will create approximately 2,000 jobs during construction and will generate an estimated 20 billion dollars in economic impact. Combined, SunZia Wind and SunZia Transmission form the largest clean energy infrastructure project in U.S. history. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, Pattern Energy CEO Hunter Armistead, John Podesta, Senior Advisor to President Biden, and Lieutenant Governor Howie Morales all participated in today's groundbreaking ceremony.

Happy belated World Photography Day! So many things in the queue to share but wanted to post this photo of a cowboy moving cattle across the highway, from a roadtrip through Colorado a few years ago. I haven't quite decided whether the photo looks better with a warmer or cooler tone so let me know in the comments!

Temperatures are pushing into the triple digits here in the Southwest, and the forecast shows more of the same for the next week. I’m longing for the finger numbing cold as I lay in the snow observing the delicate frost on these blades of grass casting shadows on the snow drifts along the Gallatin River.

Looked out the window and saw the rainbow and clouds, grabbed a camera from under the desk and walked down to Route 66 to make some photos, only to discover there wasn’t a card in the camera. 🤦🏼♂️ Made this on my phone and @shelbyleeman toned it up real pretty for me. Doesn’t make me feel any better about missing the shot but at least I made something?
