Thursday’s Supreme Court ruling on access to mifepristone is a relief, but it should never have been necessary. Women in New Mexico and across the country deserve access to safe, effective reproductive health care. We are grateful that today, this freedom remains secure.
Tonight, New Mexico grieves the loss of Juniper Blessing, a 19-year-old artist and New Mexico School of the Arts graduate who had a full, brilliant life ahead.
Juniper’s life was taken in the most senseless and violent of circumstances. My heart goes out to her family, friends, and the entire NMSA community. I refuse to accept a world where our young people are taken in this way. New Mexico stands with Juniper’s family and community.
We will stand with them until justice is served.

Since 2018, more than 198,000 New Mexicans have earned degrees. And they're finishing faster — UNM students are graduating a full semester or two sooner than they were a decade ago. The Lottery and Opportunity Scholarships are a big reason why.
What are they studying? Nursing, business, biology, teaching — but also film, flamenco, sign language and more. The growing number of New Mexicans – young and not-so-young — who are choosing to continue their education, develop skills and pursue careers are making our entire state stronger.

Governing Magazine is calling our approach to child care "game-changing" — and I couldn’t agree more.
New Mexico is the first state in the nation to offer no-cost child care to all families, regardless of income. No income caps, waiting lists. In New Mexico, getting the support they need to work, thrive, and build a future in New Mexico.

This weekend, the Governor's Residence opened its doors for my annual Spring Fling Event.
Families, grandparents, guardians, and members of the developmental disability community enjoyed music, games, and good food. I love getting to spend that kind of time with New Mexicans who give so much to their loved ones every single day.

This week I'm in Tokyo meeting with top corporate and government leaders about New Mexico’s strong value in the global marketplace. We have some of the world’s cleanest natural gas. Advanced computing. Energy technology. On this trade mission, we’re working to deepen our partnership with Japan and turn conversations started last year into real opportunities for both of our economies.
I’m grateful to be joined by Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon, and for the opportunity to tell New Mexico’s story to top executives at Hitachi and Fujitsu, and Japan's ministries of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
New Mexico is open for business.

Three years ago, New Mexico launched a serious push on literacy. Today, the results are in: reading proficiency across grades 3-8 is up 10% statewide, with Native American, Hispanic, and economically disadvantaged students leading the charge. If you have kids, sign them up for a

New Mexico's high school graduation rate has hit 80.6% — the highest in more than a decade and an 11-point jump since 2014. That's tens of thousands more New Mexico kids walking across the stage and into their futures. I want to congratulate every student, educator and family who made this possible.

Happy Mother’s Day to every mom across New Mexico!
Today I’m thinking of my own mother, Sonja. When my sister Kimberly was diagnosed with a brain tumor as a toddler, my mom fought tirelessly for her access to care and early childhood programs — and her determination helped spark what became New Vistas, a nonprofit serving New Mexicans with disabilities for more than 50 years. I carry her spirit into public service every day.
To all the hard-working moms out there who show up for their kids, their families and others: Know that New Mexico is stronger because of you.
May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. In 2024, motorcyclists were nearly 27 times more likely to die in a crash than passenger car occupants. Most multi-vehicle crashes happen because other drivers simply didn't see them. Riders: keep your headlights on at all times, even high beams during the day. Share the road. Every rider deserves to make it home. #MotorcycleSafetyMonth #MotorcycleAwareness #ShareTheRoad
