This was one of the biggest string overdub projects l’ve tackled, and a great learning experience on my never-ending quest to replicate a real string orchestra sound. Of course, it helps to have the great @davedarlingtonbasshitrecording mixing.
In case anyone’s curious: I used 3 violins, 1 viola, and 6 microphones to overdub myself 20 times for Violin I, 18 times for Violin Il, and 12 times for Viola - 50 layers total.
Did it take a while? Yes.
Was it fun? Also yes!
A few months ago @stephenbartonmusic contacted me about recording the violin for @playapex for one of their newer characters known as Ballistic. I had a blast trying to play these hard, sweeping arpeggios!

Way behind on posting but @magfest with @thetiberiansons and @viderisq was another incredibly unique experience. Congrats to @tonydickinsonbg (and everyone else involved) for successfully pulling off a massive undertaking in making this @acecombatgames show come to life—here’s my improvised solo from the set! I wish I got to play more gigs that allow me to function beyond just playing the notes on the page. Thanks for letting me shred on this one with you guys, Tony!

Most claps in one minute 👏 Musician Eli Bishop used his unique technique to achieve this record title in 2014 with 1020 claps, and inspired several young challengers to try and break his record.
In 2016 his record was claimed by Seven Wade Miami, Florida from with 1080 claps. Eli then reclaimed his record in 2018 with 1103. The current record, set in 2022, is 1140 by Dalton Meyer from Illinois, USA.
A big round of applause for all these challengers. Who will be next?
