On Sunday, Sophie Robinson and Fid Fischer – both contributors to the catalogue – present readings of their texts, followed by a conversation between Stefanie Heinze and Mason Leaver-Yap, expanding the publication’s themes through a dialogue between image, text, and voice. 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐎𝐯𝐮𝐦 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐮𝐦 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐚𝐭 𝟏𝟒.𝟎𝟑. 𝟓-𝟏𝟎𝐩𝐦 Exhibition 14.03.- 18.04.2026 We have never seen cells with the naked eye, yet they shape our perception of the body. Since the English scholar Robert Hooke introduced the term ‘cellula’ in 1665, the cell has also existed as an image: from early microscopic drawings to digital reconstructions. These images are not neutral representations, but visual translations of the unknown.In OVUM NOVUM, Fid. Fischer takes up these scientific image codes and transforms them into painted reliefs. Their materiality and aesthetics are reminiscent of models from early natural history museums and cabinets of curiosities, where knowledge was gained through observation and comparison. In the sense of a visual epistemology, images function as instruments of knowledge. Scientific cell images structure perception and stabilise categories. Fid. Fischer shifts this order into the surreal. The interior of the body appears as a violet-red glowing fantasy world. The images evoke closeness, fascination, irritation, perhaps discomfort. Between genetic facticity and cultural interpretation, an emotional space of experience opens up and the question arises: What do we see when we look into the invisible? And what looks back at us? „Relief 4“ Öl und Plastiform auf Holz, 30 x 40cm, 2024 Das Wort Relief lässt sich von dem lateinischen „relevare“ also erheben oder aufrichten ableiten. Insofern ist das Relief vielleicht die überheblichste Bildform, da sie sich ihrer Flachheit entziehen möchte. Foto: @kruygere

„Relief 1“ Öl und Plastiform auf Holz, 80 x 65 cm, 2024 Relief bedeutet auf Englisch auch Erleichterung, dabei ist das plastische Relief eher das Gegenteil:Die dargestellten Formen blasen sich auf und stehen unter Spannung. Sie drängen sich von ihrer rein optischen Begutachtung zu einer taktilen Dreidimensionalität, die auch durch die Berührung erfahrbar sein könnte. Foto: @kruygere

@st.heinze und ich haben in den letzten 12 Monaten uns von @amelieamei grandios fotografieren lassen, haben Deep Talk fürs @wetteristimmer geführt, eine so schöne Zeit zu dritt mit der bezaubernden @annika.kleist in NYC bei Heinzis Eröffnung bei @capitainpetzel gehabt, habe mein kleines Chromosom bei ihr gelassen, wurde zum ersten Mal für Gedichte beauftragt und mit dem Muskelvogel beschenkt (und waren noch in Turin und in ein paar Kneipen lol) Meine liebe, toughe Heinzi- luv you und vermisse dich, danke für die tolle Zeit und freue mich auf alles was noch kommt ♥️♥️♥️ (📸 von @amelieamei @st.heinze und mir)
