‘Movements are ringfenced, bounded by time, appearing to have a beginning and an end. These confinements undermine the continuity of Black liberation.
Links between struggles run concurrently in conversation with the past present and future. Halls conjunctures speak to Bakhtin’s chronotopes to repetitions of meaning and memory that refuse to sit in single file. Instead, running parallel, ever present, ever relevant
There are chronic articulations of what we need to say and for when the words cannot be found’

Roulettes are tools used to decorate pottery dating back to west Africa 4000 years ago and is still used in parts of Africa today.
A roulette can be made from a wide range of materials, then it is rolled across the wet clay to create a pattern before firing.
I made these using knotted bark cloth.

Currently reading Freedom as Marronage by Neil Roberts and How to Go Mad without Losing Your Mind by La Marr Jurelle Bruce.

dislocate (v.)
‘displace, put out of regular position,’ 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘴, past participle of 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 ‘put out of place,’ from 𝘥𝘪𝘴- ‘away’ + 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 ‘to place,’ from 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘴 ‘a place’
Related: 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥; 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨. Earlier as a past-participle adjective, ‘out of joint’.

Post natural indigo workshop @weoutherefest 🥰
I’m planning to run more community focused indigo workshops with @tensstudio from November.
Natural indigo can be used as a tool to acknowledge and respond to African and Caribbean historical narratives and the spirit of exploration and cultural healing it embodies 🌿
