Tune into @n10.as on Friday September 12th at 9PM EST 💿 Firuza will be mixing some magic to send you off into your weekend ~ making her debut as new ffiles collective member @ipod____________baby 🔌✨
iPod Baby woke up last night, in an ice bath, drenched in sweat. She had been asleep for 12 days, listening to the sounds of looping lullabies, karmic kicks, deconstructed dubstep, and bubblegum bass. She needed to share what she heard with the world but she knew that noone would believe her. The frequencies… they were simply too esoteric. The groove… it was too powerful. And don’t even get her started on the basslines. She drank a trusty can of Creamsicle™ energy drink and got to work translating the mix from her dreams.

Tune into @ckutmusic today, Wednesday September 10th 💿 Firuza will be taking on the mic as one of the new ffiles collective members 💿 sharing some original sound work ~>
Firuza Huseynova is primarily interested in all that is unknown to her. Born in Azerbaijan and currently based in Montreal, she finds visual and sonic inspiration in low-vibrational cultural objects: 144p WhatsApp memes, discarded cassette tapes, kitschy family collages; those kinds of things. Her sonic pet project iPod Baby @ipod____________baby combines all the disparate elements of her personality into one disjointed assemblage.

Tune into @ckutmusic tomorrow, Wednesday, July 24 at 11:30AM EST for an interview with Olesia Ponomarenko @adore_subjectivity 🌟 discussing their piece, 𝙒𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙑𝙞𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨, an interactive textile, combining electroacoustics and fibre arts.
Olesia Ponomarenko is a Ukrainian artist based in Montreal, Canada. Much of their work touches on the seductively in-between; of femininity and masculinity, of the current and past, of the digital and the tangible. Mobilized by an anxious intersubjectivity vis-à-vis the body, their work draws on a critical appreciation of substance and sex. Their multidisciplinary practice stems from play and material exploration. Olesia studies Fiber Arts at Concordia University.

Unlocking another fun summer mix tomorrow night, Friday July 12th 8PM EST on @n10.as with @c.lia.dz 🔐🔓
C Lia’s colourful sound is recognizable as an assemblage of percussive cross-genre experiments mended by rumbling basslines and entrancing vocal chops. She traces her affinity for stimulating textures to her musical background in vocal jazz and rnb, and her love of percussion to North African rhythms that surrounded her growing up. Sensitive yet incisive, methodic yet intuitively-driven, she accompanies listeners and dancers in sets built around connexion that have been taking her to increasingly fun places in the Montreal circuit over the last year.

On our @n10.as slot tomorrow, Friday June 14 at 8PM EST catch a new mix by Runa and Asha 🧚🧚 @asha.tm@karunahill
Runa and Asha are a DJ duo whose partnership is anchored in a friendship spanning over 10 years. Originally from Toronto, their journey into music stemmed from a shared background in and passion for dance that was reignited by Montreal’s DIY rave scene. The pair originally found their stride in Montreal through organising community nights at Barbossa for upcoming voices in the underground music scene. They have since started Ether, a night dedicated to embracing the freedom of movement, focused on community building through dancefloor spaces. Their sets are a testament to their diverse backgrounds, seamlessly blending genres into bass heavy sets with a pan cultural style.

Our interview with artist and activist Mie Beers @velvet.leopard is up on the @ckutmusic archive 🧚♀️ we speak with Mie about how the sacred and the sexual converge in her most recent performance works
Mie Beers is a multidisciplinary artist working between performance, photo, video, ceramics, and the written word. Her practice explores themes of yearning, surrender, the body, and the divine. Often referencing and re-appropriating Catholic symbolism, she juxtaposes this language with the aesthetics of commodified sexuality to articulate a personal and contemporary sense of spirituality. Drawing on her own experiences, she produces intimate and compelling work that is intended to draw the audience into a receptive emotional space.
