A national spotlight for Canada’s next generation of fashion designers is here. 4th-year Fashion Design students and recent graduates from across Canada are invited to enter an exclusive design competition culminating in the unveiling of the winning look at International Fashion Encounter, @intl_fashion_encounter (IFE) – 18th Edition in Toronto, April 2026. Presented by Sherwin-Williams, @sherwinwilliams , and the Fashion & Entertainment Council of Canada, @feccouncil . (FECC), In partnership with FASHION Canada, @fashioncanada , and managed by Toronto Fashion Academy, @torontofashionacademy . Selected designers will receive mentorship, professional production support, national media exposure, and the opportunity to bring their vision to life using Sherwin-Williams materials — creating a fully styled, show-stopping look inspired by colour, texture, and innovation. This is more than a competition. It’s a national stage. A mentorship journey. A career-defining moment. The final design must be created using materials and supplies provided by Sherwin-Williams. • “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” Inspired by @jnl.doan ’s first Cherry Blossom viewing with her family last year, "Nàng Xuân - Call It Spring" was created as an ode to the arrival of spring and her deep appreciation for nature - especially the quiet transformation of Cherry Blossoms through the four seasons. Blooming in late April and early May, Cherry Blossoms embody both delicacy and resilience, reflecting Jennie's vision of a modern woman. This vision reaffirms the core message of DOAN Atelier, brought to life through "Nàng Xuân", for the FECC x Sherwin-Williams Design Competition 2026. Though centred around a single design made from painter drop and interior paint, the piece is intentionally versatile - capable of being styled in four distinct looks, each representing a phase in the life cycle of a flower across the seasons. Titled "Nàng Xuân", the concept speaks to adaptability and growth - embracing change, navigating the richness of contemporary life, and continuously evolving, much like the modern woman who balances constant reinvention while staying grounded in her core identity. _________________ Jennie’s note: I would like to extend my sincere thanks to @feccouncil , @sherwinwilliams , @fashioncanada , and @torontofashionacademy for creating such a meaningful platform for emerging designers.
