May 1st 2026, Assamese Dark Metal band @feathersofjatinga unleashed "Black Zodiac". “Black Zodiac” dives into the shadow side of astrology, the traits people ignore, suppress or refuse to confront. It explores the idea of an opposite self tied to each sign, a darker twin capable of influencing destructive choices, from self-sabotage to harm inflicted on others. The track’s core strength lies in Ereka’s vocal transformation. Shifting from fragile feminine, angelic cleans to grim feral growls and unrestrained screams and vice versa. Complementing this is the haunting blend of Assamese and English lyricism penned by tSooraj. Musically, the song hits hard. The guitars are dense, crushing, yet atmospheric that is balancing weight with space. The choir resembles tormented souls of unfulfilled desire and love. There’s a deliberate throwback in its DNA: a 90s metal core fused with an 80s-style drum production. Assamese Gothic Metal band @feathersofjatinga has released yet another banger called BLACK ZODIAC which lyrically explores the darker side of astrology and musically is dark and haunting yet melodic. It features the lead vocals by @itisereka , while the guitars and production are managed by @pargotstudios also featuring @trisha_midicore on bass, Co-production, Co-mixing and mastering, @tsooraj_estranged.lunatic wrote the lyrics which mixes Assamese verse with English chorus and bridge section, Composition is by Ereka and the single’s digital artwork is done by Trisha. Talking about the lyrics and composition, here it sort of has reminded of the early works of EVANESCENCE, CREMATORY and LACUNA COIL and the Assamese part remind me of the early work of Ereka herself and it’s a wild move to add Assamese verse with English phrases on the part of tSooraj and I heavily appreciate that move. The song was recently put up on Bandcamp and YouTube is slated to be released over Spotify soon.
