First full day of showing Kina around to all of Columbus’s finest. Brought sketchbooks with us but ended up at a restaurant with a nice paper on their table-so we turned today into a drawing party.

In an earlier version of “Beyond”, I was experimenting with where to place the moment between Moana and her parents as she decided to go on this new voyage. It ended up becoming a scene within the song. But the idea of Moana returning to the mountain top where she had placed her shell from the first movie as she looked ahead to the new challenge in the sky stayed in. Thanks to Dave, Dana and Jason for inviting me to visit this world again 🌊 ✨

It’s been 8 years of drawing this girl since she was a little baby. It was fun to take a family trip together this Summer to celebrate our big boss’s birthday.
I brought the small surprised little toys things to open on the plane which still worked (even at 8) - but the supreme method was still a tablet😭How did our parents survive long travel without this?

An (unofficial) bts from our “I’m a Star” epic recording day. This song has the biggest number of singers on the soundstage for us. It was an immense amount of work by many talented people to arrive at the right sound for this magical forest. You can see storyboards projected on the big screen as an inspiration⭐️
There’s something about seeing our characters shaping up from pitches into animation dailies that was pretty magical.
When the production wrapped, I was inspired to draw the characters as I got to know them. Still, I am not an on model drawer in anyway 😓 but being in the animation reviews almost daily had made me wanted to try.
