Yesterday, 10 March, our CEO, Simi Nwogugu (
@favoredsn ), joined global JA leaders including
@AsheeshAdvani , CEO of
@jaworldwide ,
@BlerinaGuga , CEO of JA Albania, and Yuriy Tokarski, CEO of JA Ukraine, for a timely conversation on how experiential learning can be scaled through strong nonprofit–government partnerships.
The session was opened with welcome remarks by Iffath Sharif, Director of Social Policy at the
@worldbankgroup Bank, setting the tone for a conversation grounded in systems change and inclusive access.
Moderated by Sonia Madhvani, Senior Social Protection Specialist,
@worldbankgroup , the webinar explored what it takes to expand access to practical, modern learning experiences at both local and global levels in partnership with governments.
In Africa, experiential learning is a direct response to youth unemployment, exclusion from opportunity, and limited access to practical skills pathways. Through the JA Social Equity Program (SEP), we have built a scalable model designed to address these gaps with relevance and measurable outcomes.
What began in 2023 as a pilot reaching 17,007 young people in Côte d’Ivoire, South Africa, and Uganda has grown into a growing program with nine countries and counting participating. In 2025, SEP reached 104,149 youth, delivered 769 entrepreneurship bootcamps, and enabled 77,506 young people to complete the JA Digital Entrepreneurship Education Program.
Participants developed 8,538 social impact project ideas, and 2,226 youth were directly linked to employment opportunities through partnerships with 125 employers.
A key factor behind this growth has been strong local partnerships. Collaboration with schools, employers, community institutions, and government actors has ensured contextual relevance, institutional ownership, and sustainable implementation across diverse environments.
As we continue to scale, our commitment remains clear: to align policy, partnership, and practice so experiential learning becomes embedded within national systems, expanding access to practical skills, economic opportunity, and sustainable pathways to employment for young Africans.
