*The* most photographed and shared element of our beautiful bar so far has been this hand painted lettering on our back bar, done by artist Susan Yong Williams of the Siren Betty team!
We wanted to ensure that our space had a way to declare itself dedicated to the queer community without a myriad of pride flags (with all respect to the rainbow!) and we landed here. While we aren’t a stereotypical dive bar we kept the moniker of a “dive” in line with our nautically inspired decor.
Susan also designed our custom queer swimmer wallpaper featured in our ADA restroom and as our photobooth backdrop along with the plastered shell fireplace. But more about those spectacular details later.

We were honored to have a room full of beverage and culinary talent fill our Industry Night Friends & Family last week - and we’re excited to announce our first culinary pop up in less than a week with Logan Oyster Socials!
Chef Rickie Pérez is a Chicago-based chef and the founder of Logan Oyster Socials, a traveling raw bar experience known for fresh-shucked oysters and bold, culturally inspired seafood.
Don’t miss his debut pop up with us on April 20th starting at 7pm! Freshly shucked oysters will be 3 for $12 or 5 for $20. He’ll be shucking with us as supplies last!
Fathom opens at 5pm with a happy hour until Chef Rickie begins at 7pm!

STORY: Fathom, A Queer Cocktail Bar From The Team Behind Dorothy, Opens In Lakeview
Whitney LaMora and Zoe Schor said their focus is on creating a more casual, accessible neighborhood bar that will host events and community pop-ups.
The team behind one of Chicago’s most popular lesbian cocktail bars has opened a queer-focused one in Lakeview.
Fathom, 1622 W. Belmont Ave., a cocktail lounge from Whitney LaMora and Zoe Schor, opened last week. LaMora and Schor, who co-own Dorothy in Ukrainian Village, said the new space builds on what they’ve learned running a destination-style lounge but in a more central, accessible location.
The pair have spent years experimenting with what a queer bar can be, from hosting immersive theater to silent book clubs. Fathom is a chance to apply those lessons in a more accessible, high-traffic part of the city, they said.
The result is a space they hope feels intentional and easygoing, where customers can drop in after work or stay late into the night.
“We really wanted to make a comfortable neighborhood bar first,” Schor said. “It’s a neighborhood bar, but the aesthetic feels more coastal than Chicago. You get to walk in and be removed from your immediate day-to-day, from whatever work troubles you have or things that are bothering you, and just transport yourself into this coastal environment.”
