Directed by Japan-based visionary Tatsuya Fujimoto @tatsuyafujimoto “fatalism” is the sonic and conceptual persona of Salem Rashid Skourlis—an artist, composer, and filmmaker whose work confronts the entanglement of natural intelligence and synthetic systems. Moving between ritual performance, speculative cinema, and installation, his practice emerges at the fault lines of post-industrial collapse and mythic renewal. With an ethos shaped by diasporic memory, esoteric inquiry, and ecological urgency, Fatalism channels frequencies from fractured pasts and possible futures. Concerned with the erasure of organic consciousness under accelerating technological regimes, he composes using both cybernetic architectures and bioacoustic phenomena—rendering sound not only as signal, but as spell, scar, and sentience. (n)ether — my sophomore album as @fatal_ism is out worldwide. The war has not ended. The oppressors still rise, the old coloniser breed draining the youth, feeding on blood and silence. But they will fall. Their empire of cruelty will wither, and peace will root itself again. This work is my prayer against them, my offering to the memory of those who resist. A door with no frame appears — why does the void fit so perfectly? The void which is in-between of omni-present, Where I’m just a seed that wants to remember which way is up. Just like a smoke that remembers the fire, I was once a Gh0st that forgot that it died. I broke that mirror, but why can I no longer see my eyes? Was I ever known? What fills me now? The shape of what is missing is the key to lock my memory away.
