Giovedì 26 febbraio, dalle ore 18.30, Florìda vi invita a scoprire il lavoro di Annika Katja Boll in occasione dell’open studio che conclude il suo periodo di residenza a Genova.
Durante la serata, l’artista presenterà lo sviluppo della ricerca condotta nel mese di febbraio, insieme a un’installazione site-specific pensata per gli spazi di Florìda.
Annika Katja Boll è un’artista digitale che, attraverso strumenti tecnologici, indaga i processi di digitalizzazione, riproduzione e mercificazione della natura nella società contemporanea. Attualmente in residenza artistica a Genova presso l’associazione Florìda, sta approfondendo una ricerca sull’immaginario e sui sistemi di classificazione degli animali — storici e contemporanei — esplorandone le implicazioni culturali e politiche.

Dopo qualche mese di calma ripartiamo con il programma di residenze con il primo ospite del 2026. Diamo il benvenuto ad **Annika Katja Boll**, artista digitale con base a Bruxelles.
Annika ha studiato Belle Arti presso Villa Arson a Nizza e alla Kunsthochschule Kassel, con precedenti studi in antropologia culturale e psicologia sociale.
Il suo lavoro converte la materia organica in repliche digitali, un processo che descrive giocosamente come *digital gardening* (giardinaggio digitale). La sua pratica spazia tra software 3D, animazione, installazione e formati di presentazione ibridi che si muovono fluidamente tra ambienti digitali e spazio fisico. Radicata in una prospettiva ecologica, la sua ricerca indaga come la natura viene estetizzata, regolata e tecnologizzata - trasformata in dati, prodotto o decorazione.

My initial plan was to respond to underwater material and my choice fell on Posidonia Oceanica, seagrass. But then I found myself in a pine forest, far from the sea; and I was happy with my land-grass (.🌱.) I digitised grass blades (.🌱.) I took second hand descriptions and microscopic textures and turned them into excessive surfaces that have little to do with zoological reality but everything to do with my imagination trying to fill the gaps (.🌱.) it's a botanical hallucination of something that exists, but not here 👀

Annika Boll est une artiste numérique basée à Bruxelles, dont la pratique comprend les logiciels 3D, l'animation et l'installation. Elle a étudié les Beaux-Arts à la Villa Arson (Nice) et à la Kunsthochschule Kassel, après un cursus antérieur en anthropologie culturelle et en psychologie sociale.
Son travail transforme la matière organique en répliques numériques, un processus qu'elle qualifie avec amusement de jardinage numérique (digital gardening). Elle y examine la manière dont la nature est esthétisée, régulée et technologisée — convertie en données, en produits ou en décoration.
Pour cette résidence, Annika explorera les potentialités des machines à dessiner à travers deux axes de recherche: créer une botanique spéculative en hybridant modélisation 3D, scans 3D et scans low-tech; et expérimenter la génération de textures et motifs organiques pour révéler la tension visuelle entre l'irrégularité du vivant et la répétition mécanique du numérique.
[EN] As part of the DRAW() exhibition, we will be welcoming Annika Boll for a residency focused on pen plotters from January 5th to 9th.
Annika Boll ( @fannika____ ) is a Brussels-based digital artist, working across 3D software, animation and installation. She studied Fine Arts at Villa Arson Nice and Kunsthochschule Kassel, with earlier studies in cultural anthropology and social psychology.
Her work converts organic matter into digital replicas, a process she playfully describes as digital gardening. She examines how nature is aestheticized, regulated, and technologized - turned into data, product, or decoration.
During this residency, Annika will explore the potential of drawing machines through two lines of research: creating a speculative botany by hybridizing 3D modeling, 3D scans, and low-tech scans; and experimenting with generating organic textures and patterns to reveal the visual tension between the irregularity of living things and the mechanical repetition of digital output.

Deniz Villaları – Ekolojik Geçişler Rezidans Sanatçı Programı’nın ilk edisyonuna, K2 Urla Nefes Alanı'nda çalışmalarını gerçekleştirmek üzere seçilen katılımcı sanatçılardan Annika Boll ile rezidans deneyimini ve üretimlerini paylaşmak üzere bir sunumda buluşuyoruz.
Çalışmalarında organik maddeler, dijital kopyalara dönüşür; görsel gerçekçilik ile yapay bir boşluk arasında ince bir çizgide varlık bulur. 3 boyutlu taramalar, temelde bir “Kabuk İçindeki Hayalet” gibidir—üzerine yapıştırılmış resimlerle dolu, ama içi boş bir geometri. Boll, K2’de gerçekleştirdiği saha çalışmasında ise Posidonia deniz otunu, spekülatif bir yeniden yapılandırmayla dijital dünyaya taşımıştır.

As part of the first edition of the Deniz Villalari– Ecological Transitions Artist Residency Program, Annika Boll, selected to carry out her work atK2 Urla Breathing Zone, will share her residency experience and artistic production in a presentation. Her work translates organic matter into digital copies, between visual realism and hollow artifice: A 3D scan basically is a Ghost in a Shell, an empty geometry with pictures glued on top. At K2 she combined field research of its grasslands with a speculative reconstruction of Posidonia seagrass.
