#rejazzfestival2024 is elated to present Nancy Meier and her project NANCELOT on the 21/11/2024, 21:00 CET at #KulturfabrikSchlot 🎷 Tickets 🎫available at the #linkinbio ☝ The young jazz flutist from Bern, 𝐍𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐉𝐨ë𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐢𝐞𝐫, found an early connection to improvisational elements through church music. She attended the conservatory in Winterthur and later completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in Jazz and Contemporary Music at the University of the Arts in Bern, becoming one of the few jazz flutists in Switzerland. Nancy has composed for big bands, large ensembles, and chamber music projects and is part of the octet 'Blau Salvatge,' whose second album will be released in fall 2024. Her flute playing enriches various large ensembles in Switzerland and Germany. She has lived and worked in Berlin since 2023. At the beginning of this year, Nancy released her debut album with her passion project 𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐋𝐎𝐓, with which she will open the rejazz-festival on November 21, 2024. Dafür nutzt sie eine bislang ungehörte Besetzung: Vier Querflöten und ein Schlagzeug. Das Resultat auf ihrem gleichnamigen Debütalbum klingt wie ein Tanz von einem anderen Stern. Musik kann grossartige Geschichten erzählen, gerade weil ihr die verbale Sprache fehlt. Musik eröffnet Räume und lädt zum Lustwandeln ein. Als klangliches Labyrinth lockt sie die Hörerin, den Hörer immer tiefer hinein, lässt sich Geheimnisvolles entlocken und wartet auch nach mehrmaligem Hören mit überraschenden Einzelheiten auf. «Nancelot», das erste Album der gleichnamigen Band von Jazzflötistin Nancy Meier tut genau dies. Zum einen gelingt dies der Schweizerin mit Wahlheimat Berlin, weil sie sich für ihre Band eine aussergewöhnliche Besetzung ausgedacht hat: Vier Querflöten und ein Schlagzeug – so etwas gab es zuvor noch nie.
