To Be Eaten ‘Dead Man Seize’
Today is the official release of the 20th Anniversary pressing of this landmark album of Denver heavy metal. This first time ever vinyl version is limited to 35 copies on lathe-cut 12” LP. We have reimagined the artwork slightly, from the original source, an incredible painting by William Thidemann, a luminary in the arts and tattooing scene (Mammoth American Tattoo in the Whittier neighborhood)
I always wanted to release this album on vinyl, but the label, hot off the heels of our previous release (the vinyl version of the debut Bailer album), didn’t have the funds, so the CD was born of necessity. The original run showcased our usual intensive, hand-made packaging; Andrew Segreti laid out the files, I printed the booklet and tray artwork at my old shop job, and took home the stacks of paper to score, staple, fold, and stuff. It’s a little more simple this time around, but the artwork remains fierce and beautiful. Buttons and stickers included
Here’s a word from Ben on the creative process during this time: “It’s hard to summarize what To Be Eaten meant to everyone involved, but it was a pivotal band for me because it’s when I realized that I wanted to do this kind of stuff forever. The Dead Man Seize album was the first time we had these next-level types of ideas, with musicians that could actually understand the bigger picture and elevate the songs with incredible playing. This is the era that we really figured out how to write/record songs, give energetic performances, book shows/tours, and promote ourselves in a way that we deserved. We learned a lot during these early years and it shaped our futures in such a positive way. I still use all of the knowledge and wisdom that was unlocked when we made this record, and carry the DIY ethos that always kept us humble and authentic. To Be Eaten went on to accomplish some great things in our later years, but I always turn back to this first album and recognize it as a defining turning point in my life.”

This year was quite a roller coaster and it’s nice to be on the other side of such a wild ride. Countless shows all over the US, old friends, new friends, mountain adventures, and some quality family time too!
I’m grateful that I’m able to release and perform music as often as I do, and it only seems to be ramping up each year. I’m hoping that next year will be even more productive, and I’m certain that I will not take anything for granted - as our time in this life is precious and never to be wasted.

Nightwraith tour was a blast!
