10 Years of Sad & Horny: The Beginning of a Hidden Story
This year marks 10 years of Sad & Horny.
For many of you, this album still means a lot. For me, it was a turning point.
But what almost no one knows: before Sad & Horny came out in 2016, there was a completely finished album with a different title:
The Fragile World of Fai Baba.
It was recorded in 2015, mixed and never released.
After my girlfriend and band broke up, I pulled back. I wanted to rethink everything.
I played almost all the instruments myself. The first sessions were live with
@troxlerarno on drums. Later came a second session with
@domser . Same spirit: intuitive, fast, honest.
I went to New York City, where
@tonebass mixed the whole thing.
And still, the album never came out.
(Except for “Christmas Time” which I didn’t even want on the album anyway ;))
In 2016, everything shifted.
My collaboration and friendship with Domi grew stronger. We started playing shows as a duo, building a new energy. Songs were reworked, new ones appeared, and out of that process, Sad & Horny was born.
For the 10-year anniversary, I’m opening this archive for the first time.
It starts with “Who’s the Leader of Your Heart,” featuring Arno Troxler on drums,
@____v___i____z___ on vocals, and
@__s_h___a___ on reeds.
Back then, I didn’t know where this journey would take me.
But I felt that I had to start over.
With this first release, a journey begins, back to the songs before Sad & Horny.
And maybe you’ll hear the album again with new ears.
What’s your story with Sad & Horny?
Do you have a favorite song?
