Touring Pack Process.
I’ve wanted to make a technical backpack for years. Intimidated by the complexity of designing one from scratch, I kept putting it off. This year, I decided to begin — designing as I went, developing the pack from a paper pattern into a finished prototype.
This pack brings together lessons from various past projects. What’s reflected here are many hours in design, and many more in production.
Proud of the result.
Recent projects in the workshop. Finalized tote bag pattern and process. Got a 20 year old bar tack machine set up and dialed in. Rig bag V2 in prep for another river season. Belts, booster straps, and bag modifications to round it out.
I often get asked what my favorite part about guiding on the river is and it’s hard to come up with a definitive answer. Describing the best part of guiding on the river is like trying to catch the current—it’s ever-changing. The untouched canyons, the rush of whitewater, the starlit lullabies each night... These are chapters of a love story with this job and these places.
Yet, amidst it all, it’s the people who can make these experiences so memorable. The camaraderie forged with these remarkable colleagues turned confidants is hard to beat. Grateful to each person whose shared experiences have enriched this journey.
CREATE & REITERATE
— a mindset I’ve been focusing on in my creative endeavors.
Here’s a quick exploration that’s part of a larger brand/project I’ve been tinkering with that’s an #amalgamation of all my creative outlets.
