Day one of our Adobe Horno Building Workshop. We moved a MOUNTAIN of gravel, played with mud, spooned some mortar and learned a TON.    This is what hands-on learning can look like:  collaborative, place-based, accessible, and deeply human.    Huge thanks to everyone who showed up ready for this adventure. More tomorrow.    @adobeisnotsoftware @exploringeric @rexatron5000

I thought you liked danger.. Real talk, what pushed me into action for the @basinbikepath was seeing two bicycle-related deaths happen in the same week last fall. People walking and biking in the basin are vulnerable, and I think about that every time I ride. It’s one of the main reasons I’m so passionate about this project. A basin-wide path could make the hi-desert safer, more connected, and more accessible for everyone. . . . #apex #netflix #joshuatree #yuccavalley #29palms

intro to adobe @adobeisnotsoftware at @yuccavalleymaterial !!!! thank you to ben, @lucylllllloyd & @exploringeric for sharing such an immersive and deeply knowledgeable workshop with us! i learned so much about earthen building, clay, building codes and even how the pectin in cactus creates natural waterproofing! 🧱🧱🧱 i was so lucky to experience a night in @andreazittel ’s wagon station project at @highdeserttestsites — seeing the moon, stars and clouds from within it was magic (and hearing and feeling the wind)

We’re going to Sacramento! 🚴 A few months ago, we stood in front of the @townofyuccavalley Council to share a vision: a bike path connecting the Morongo Basin. This week, we brought that same vision to the @cityof29palms Council and shared some exciting news: we’ve been invited by @calbikeorg to attend the 2026 California Bicycle Summit happening next week in Sacramento. This is how change happens - starting with an idea, building community support, and showing up. We’re excited to learn, connect, and bring back ideas to help make this vision a reality in the dez. Follow along as we take the Basin Bike Path to Sacramento!

🚨 Bike gas prices have hit an all-time low: $0.00 Meanwhile… ⛽😬 Imagine getting around the basin without worrying about gas… Would you ride more if we had safer bike paths out here? What would you spend your “saved gas money” on?

Reserve your spot now by emailing [email protected]. Adobe Brick Making Workshops Saturdays April 11, 18, and 25 | 12–4 PM with Eric Linnert These sessions offer a meaningful opportunity to deepen your understanding of adobe construction while directly supporting our residency. The afternoon will explore: ▫️Adobe Overview ▫️Soil Recap ▫️Tools + Safety ▫️Mixing Adobe ▫️Forming Bricks ▫️Drying + Curing A suggested donation of $50 per workshop helps sustain this ongoing series. What do the best bike paths in SoCal have in common? 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘀. We’ve been digging into some of Southern California’s most successful bike paths, and there’s a clear pattern: they follow flood control channels. You already know about the amazing @cv_link down the hill, but have you explored the Santa Ana River Trail? This paved path stretches nearly 60 miles across two major sections, including more than 20 miles through San Bernardino & Riverside Counties, plus another 30 miles from Corona through Orange County, all the way to the ocean 🌅 Here’s the exciting part for the hi-dez: Did you know we already have a wash that’s county flood control property? It runs east–west through Yucca Valley, crossing Hwy 62 at John’s Place, passing south of Brehm Soccer Park & Little League fields, south of the BMX Track, north of the airport, through Paradise Valley, and all the way to Joshua Tree - crossing Sunburst at the park. From there, it continues along the north side of town past CMC, further east to Lear, and eventually connects to 29 Palms. And guess what? 29 Palms is already moving forward with their own City-Wide Channel Trail (more on that soon 👀)! #BasinBikePath #HiDesert #YuccaValley #JoshuaTree #29palms
