How could one possibly define a band that is always willing to push black and Death metal further through such semantic limits? #往死裏打 #0609 東南亞地區，尤其是被稱為「努山塔拉」（Nusantara）的區域，包括印尼、馬來西亞、新加坡、菲律賓、泰國以及鄰近國家，在過去三十年間已然成為全球極端金屬，特別是死亡金屬（Death Metal）與碾核（Grindcore）最重要的文化重鎮之一。印尼前總統佐科維多多，曾公開表示他對重型音樂的熱愛，尤其以Napalm Death為甚，甚至在2018年Megadeth印尼站中，在演出開幕時播出片段，由佐科維多多自己說出對Megadeth的愛。一個連總統都公開愛重型音樂的國家，可想而知印尼的金屬文化到底有多重。這個情況就如「Ian嫂」文化體育及旅遊局局長羅淑佩一樣，某情況也間接讓香港的男團文化更入屋一樣。因此，印尼成為東南亞國家中，盛產死亡金屬最多的國家，多達二千三百個。 在早期網絡資訊匱乏底下，DIY文化在東南亞十分普遍，東南亞的金屬愛好者必須自行製作錄音帶、出版zines，並組織演出 (Exhumation所屬廠牌Pulverised Records就是這樣被打響名堂)。在印尼的情況更好，在不受教會的影響下，能創造出具備東南亞獨有宗教特色的死亡金屬音樂，以重型音樂的形式為各神明致敬。以根在印尼日惹的Exhumation為例，在 專輯 “Master’s Personae” 中引用爪哇神祕主義，在歌詞中探討了靈魂與毀滅的輪迴。因此，死亡金屬在印尼的根基絕對是不一樣的打得深。除了因為本來DIY文化就是充滿愛外，亦因為宗教意味重，而國家的宗教意識重底下，更能穩固印尼的死亡金屬文化。 不如就用Exhumation的音樂作為教科書，看看一下東南亞死亡金屬的特點。以 “Master’s Personae” 為例，當你看見它的封面，肯定會覺得這是東南亞死亡金屬的寫照，容易想起幾樣音樂上的特點，包括但不限於： 1. 錄音較為粗糙，以粗獷的方式呈現各種的結他riff，有機且骯髒，且能力聽得出以較原始的取向，硬生生把死亡氣氛帶往煉獄； 2. 在速度上極其迅猛，即使在歌曲中加入solo，仍然保持著誇張的bpm。簡單來說，如果曾了解過敲擊金屬 (thrash metal) 是甚麼一回事的，你可以稱之為極端版、邪惡多倍的thrash metal； 3. 加入東南亞各地的神明。Exhumation的專輯的音樂中探討了宇宙的崩壞與重生，以及透過死亡與痛苦達成覺醒的過程。結合爪哇神祕主義，令他們在其他一般人眼中的非主流宗教中尋找對死亡解釋，而這不是比起一般西方以撒旦、魔鬼為主題的音樂可以一比，因為東南亞一早已把這些宗教理念注入腦中。 如果要為去看Exhumation的往死裏打給予理由，我希望各位可以著重數項元素，包括有瘋狂的結他solo、外在的秘術形象、難得的老派死金現場演出、極快的節奏等等，我恨不得看見觀眾猶如發瘋一樣甩著他們的頭、甚麼hand chop、對著結他當空氣solo等等，在形體上達致真的往死裏「打」的趨勢。 本地選手方面，Cursed Eyes @cursedeyeshk 曾出戰東南亞的金屬節，曲風取向偏往傳統派死亡金屬，可謂與Exhumation重疊著兩點一線。不肯定他們有否見過大家，但這種東南亞風味濃烈的死亡金屬 (加上少許melodic元素)，兩者一同實現solo大亂鬥，要多快有多快，亦有推出新歌；Putrescent Carcass @putrescentcarcass 作為本地死亡金屬新血，除了推出新歌外，更是連Full Length也推出過。一眾年輕人沉浸於不同曲風中，而這個project為本地的metal scene說明了後繼有人的老懷安慰。兩隊樂隊最近的動向頻繁，我很期待他們能為這場演出帶來怎樣的火花，要打要撞這場絕對是最合適的選擇。
