My work engages with the representation of the human body in dialogue with classical artistic traditions. I am particularly concerned with aspects of the body that are concealed, distorted, dismembered, diseased, removed, or conventionally considered unappealing, as well as those that are sensual, corporeal, and fragile. My inspirations primarily draw on medical research—especially pathology—and on developments in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), prosthetics, and surgery. I also engage with the idea that body parts removed from individuals have historically been used for research, displayed in museums and churches, and collected in colonial cabinets of curiosities.

„Potentially”
24-28 September
@fringe_warszawa
A series of sculptures reflects on the fragility of life, anticipation, and disappointment. They are inspired by the story of a caterpillar I cared for, hoping she would undergo her transformation. I crafted a small world for her—a house made of paper and lettuce—waiting for the moment she would become a butterfly.
Yet, she remained forever in her cocoon, and the joyful anticipation was overshadowed by an unexpected loss. Potential does not always manifest, and hopes can be disappointed. The unfulfilled promise of a new life, which never materialized, left me in a state of sadness.
Potential holds countless possibilities.

Dominik Horodyński-Garstecki engages with the house-gallery space through a series of actions and objects, reinterpreting it using mimicry, repetition, and reproduction. Viewing space as an integrated element, he explores reflections and patterns that, through imaginative repetition, transform familiar environments with fresh contexts.
