I don’t have a new book of poetry this year. I am, however, trying hard to be a good Friendly Neighborhood Poet. I’m trying to be a good steward at @buildcoffeeandbooks . I’m trying to be a good mentor and community member and friend. I’m trying to be courageous in the face of villainy. I learned that partially from some of my favorite poets. So, thanks to the @chicago_reader and everyone who voted me best poet this year. I will try to continue to be a good poet, by which I mean, I am a poet, and I will try to be good. 💓
Come knit with @micah_cm and @eve.ewing on Sunday Feb 15! Total beginners and longtime knitters welcome. We’ll be knitting the “melt the ICE” hat from @yarn_cult and we’ll have hot drinks and good company. Proceeds from this event go to the Powderhorn neighbor fund to support our cousins and comrades in Minneapolis who can make urgent use of rent relief and other mutual aid. 🧶🧶🧶 register at the link in our bio or highlights!

In luminous prose, Eve L. Ewing demonstrates that schools were designed to propagate the idea of white intellectual superiority, to "civilize" Native students, and to prepare Black students for menial labor. Clear-eyed, engaging, and revelatory, ORIGINAL SINS is necessary reading for students, educators, parents, and anyone seeking to understand and improve our education system.
Swipe through to see what educators on the ground are saying about ORIGINAL SINS!
