Výjezdoví hasiči, velitelé, operátoři operačního střediska i vyšetřovatelé příčin požárů absolvovali intenzivní kurz polského jazyka zaměřený na komunikaci při mimořádných událostech. Cílem bylo zvládnout základy potřebné pro situace, kdy jde o čas, spolupráci a lidské životy, ať už při pomoci polským občanům v Česku nebo při přeshraničních zásazích.

👥🤝🏛The European Commission (DG ECHO) and the Union for the Mediterranean co-organised this High-Level Workshop, within the framework of the PPRD Med Programme, building on the two previous editions held in Tunis (2024) and Barcelona (2025).
🔎👉The CY2026EU edition in Pafos focused operationally on fire risk management, addressing both wildfires (forest and bush fires) and industrial fire risks. Fire emergencies are increasingly more complex, posing multifaceted systemic challenges, thus requiring integrated, intersectoral and interdisciplinary approaches.
📚🗣Discussions address among others: integrated fire management, early detection via space-based and satellite services, fire monitoring, forecasting and decision-support AI and advanced analytics, and of course governance and interoperability frameworks.
🏛️🧑🚒🔥🛩️ The workshop highlights regional cooperation around the Cyprus Regional Aerial Firefighting Station (CRAFS), thus providing a platform for EU and non-EU Mediterranean partners, policymakers and experts, to deliberate and exchange views, opinions, experiences and lessons learned on strengthening operational cooperation across the disaster management cycle.

📣 The Annual Report of the Venezuela Humanitarian Fund (VHF) is now available 🇺🇳!
In 2025, the work of the VHF and 22 humanitarian organizations, in coordination with the authorities, enabled 176,000 people to receive assistance in key priority areas.
Of the total:
👩🦰116,200 are women and girls (66% of people reached)
🧑🦽4,100 are persons with disabilities
💰 To achieve this, the VHF allocated $9 million for 21 projects, of which 79% were led by national organisations, strengthening the localization agenda in the country. Additionally, it reinforced its commitment to protection as a central pillar of the response by allocating $3.9 million to projects that provided protection services, such as child protection and gender-based violence prevention and response, to 60,700 people.
🤝 We thank all VHF donors for their generous contributions, essential to provide life-saving assistance to those in need and to continue strengthening the humanitarian response in the country.

🪪 Participants learned about IOM programmes, documentation procedures, and the steps to obtain or extend temporary protection status in Moldova. After the session, they received hygiene kits and food assistance to help address immediate needs.
🙌 With generous financial support from the European Union, IOM Moldova continues to provide displaced people affected by the full-scale war in Ukraine with reliable information and essential assistance, helping individuals and families stay informed, protected, and supported during challenging times.

The 2nd National Dialogue Platform on Anticipatory Action in Pakistan concluded yesterday after two days of engaging discussions and collaboration in Islamabad.
The event brought together a wide range of stakeholders, from government institutions and humanitarian organizations to technical experts and academia, to explore how Pakistan can better prepare for disasters before they happen.
Participants discussed disaster early warning systems, Pakistan’s anticipatory action journey, and ways to improve coordination and harmonization across sectors. Interactive breakout sessions focused on practical solutions, including early detection systems, community-level preparedness, anticipatory cash support, and integrating anticipatory action into national and sectoral plans.
The dialogue concluded with renewed commitments to strengthen collaboration, advance a national strategy, and ensure that anticipatory action becomes a core part of Pakistan’s disaster management approach, helping protect lives and livelihoods before disasters unfold.
